Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Incidents
DUI, burglary reported to sheriff’s office
The following recent inci
dents requiring response
from law enforcement were
reported to the Barrow Coun
ty Sheriff’s Office:
•eviction conducted at an
East 5th Avenue. Winder,
residence, where a crossbow
and pellet gun were found
during the eviction process.
•driving under the influ
ence (DUI) of drugs, know
ingly driving a motor vehicle
on a suspended, cancelled
or revoked registration, fail
ure to register a vehicle and
possession of marijuana on
University Parkway at Harry
McCarty Road, Bethlehem,
where a traffic stop was con
ducted on the driver of a 1998
Toyota 4Runner.
•burglary and criminal
trespass at a Carl-Bethle-
hem Road, Bethlehem, resi
dence, where the homeown
er reported, upon returning
from vacation, finding the
front door of his residence
had been forced open.
The homeowner reported
the following items miss
ing from the residence: two
crossbows, one 12 gauge
shotgun, one digital camera
and a box of miscellaneous
jewelry, all valued at $2,000.
•theft by conversion at a
Kirkland Circle, Statham,
residence, where a man
reported another male sold
his handgun without his per
mission.
The complainant stated he
asked the other male to pawn
his handgun to a friend to
get money to bail him (com
plainant) out of jail in Gwin
nett County, but the other
man sold the gun to a gun
shop and used the money for
his personal use.
•theft by taking and enter
ing an automobile or other
motor vehicle with the intent
to commit a theft or other
felony at a Perkins Road.
Winder, residence. A man
reported he left his vehicle
parked at this residence for a
few months because he was
having issues getting his tag
transferred from another state
and on Oct. 18, when he went
to the vehicle he discovered
someone had taken a guitar,
amp, radio, Xbox and mul
tiple games from the vehicle.
•criminal trespass at a Trey
Lane, Winder, residence,
where a suspicious person
was reported. The com
plainant, who stated he was
not home, said a juvenile at
his home heard something
in the backyard. The female
juvenile stated a Ford Explor
er was parked in the driveway
and a male rang the door
bell. but she didn’t answer
the door. She said the male
walked to the backyard and
went to an outbuilding and
attempted to pull on the lock,
before running back to his
vehicle.
•theft by taking at a Doc
McLocklin Road, Statham,
residence, where a man
reported the theft of a .38
caliber revolver.
•willful obstruction of law
enforcement officers and
outstanding arrest warrant
on Loganville Highway at
Carl-Bethlehem Road, Beth
lehem, where a man was
located walking along the
roadway.
•criminal trespass at a
Russell Cemetery Road.
Winder, residence, where
a man reported a burglary
and advised the suspects had
left going towards Corinth
Church Road in a 4-door
Chevrolet Silverado truck.
The responding officer
reported finding a “blood trail
on the driveway that led to
the broken window.” A man,
believed to be involved in the
burglary, showed up a short
time later at Barrow Regional
Medical Center for treatment
on a laceration to his hand.
•simple battery and bat
tery at a Karis Lane, Winder,
residence, where a domestic
dispute was reported, where
a couple reported being in
an argument with the male’s
sister.
•entering an automobile or
other motor vehicle with the
intent to commit a theft or
other felony, criminal tres
pass and outstanding arrest
warrant at a Briscoe Mill
Road, Bethlehem, residence,
where a woman reported
finding a black male laying
in the rear seat of her 1989
GMC Suburban parked at her
residence.
•missing property at a Blair
Court, Bethlehem, residence,
where the property manager
reported a dishwasher miss
ing from the residence.
•theft by shoplifting at
Walmart, Adanta Highway
NW, Winder, where two
males, on three separate
occasions, took several items
from the store without pay
ing.
•theft by deception and
party to a crime at Walmart,
Winder.
•criminal trespass at a
Kirkland Circle. Statham.
residence, where a man
reported another man struck
the passenger side of the
windshield on the 2011 Kia
Soul he was driving causing
the windshield to break.
•theft by taking at an Anita
Drive. Winder, residence,
where a woman reported the
theft of $90 from inside her
purse.
•driving without a valid
driver’s license and failure to
obey a stop sign or yield after
stopping on Jackson Trail
Road at Hardigree Road,
Winder, where a traffic stop
was conducted on the driver
of a 2009 Toyota Corolla.
•burglary and theft by
taking at a Kilcrease Road,
Auburn, location, where a
man reported someone had
entered a gate on the property
and broken into one of the
bams that is used for storage,
•theft by shoplifting at
Walmart, Winder, where a
husband and wife had report
edly stolen 110 items, valued
at $627.
•simple assault - Fami
ly Violence Act (FVA) and
simple battery - FVA at a
Baylor Drive, Bethlehem,
residence, where a domestic
dispute was reported between
a female and her mother.
•theft by shoplifting and
criminal trespass at Walmart,
where a man reportedly took
items valued at $45 without
paying for them.
•damage to property -
striking an unattended vehi
cle at a Providence Circle,
Statham, residence. The
female complainant reported
she had been to three differ
ent places - Bear Creek Mid
dle School, Lanier Technical
College and Saint Mary’s
Hospital - and while at one
of these locations someone
sideswiped her 2015 Mitsub
ishi Outlander.
•theft by taking at an Ama
lie Drive, Statham, residence,
where a man reported that
his mother had stolen money
from him.
•criminal trespass at
Walmart, Atlanta Highway
NW, Winder, where an irate
customer was yelling at store
associates and cursing at peo
ple.
•suspicious activity at a
Wagon Wheel Trail, Statham,
residence. The complainant
reported a male driving a
white Honda had chased a
female into his yard. The
complainant said the female
rang his doorbell and told
him she was being chased by
the male in the Honda.
•possession of meth-
amphetamine, possession
of cocaine and brake light
requirements violation on
Providence Road at Eller-
be Drive. Statham, where a
traffic stop was initiated on
the driver of a 1992 Honda
Accord.
•financial transaction card
theft at a Jones Road, Winder,
residence, where a woman
reported her Georgia EBT
card had been stolen.
•battery - FVA and cruel
ty to children at a Highway
211 NW. Winder, residence,
where a domestic dispute
was reported between a hus
band and wife.
•theft by taking at a Beaver
Hill Drive, Bethlehem, resi
dence. where a man report
ed the theft of a tag off his
vehicle.
•driving while driver’s
license is suspended or
revoked on West May Street
at Polite Road. Winder,
where a traffic stop was con
ducted on the driver of a 2006
Ford F-150 truck.
•lost/found proper
ty at Insurance Auto Auc
tion, Atlanta Highway SE.
Winder, where an employee
reported finding a gun in a
2010 Chevrolet Malibu that
had been dropped off at the
auction.
•knowingly driving a
motor vehicle on a suspend
ed. cancelled or revoked
registration on Loganville
Highway, Bethlehem, where
a traffic stop was initiated on
the driver of a 2008 Hyundai
Elantra.
•hit and run; duty of the
driver to stop at or return
to the scene of an accident
at Walmart, Winder, where
a woman reported someone
had struck her 2015 Kia Soul
while she was inside the store
shopping.
•stalking at a Pinnacle
Drive, Winder, residence,
where a man and woman
reported a suspicious vehi
cle in their neighborhood and
following his wife to work.
•disturbance at a Booth
Road, Statham. residence.
A man told officers he was
“tired of dealing with her
(the female at the residence)
when she was drunk and try
ing to pick a fight.”
He said the female was try
ing to argue with him saying
that he was cheating on her.
•aggressive driving on
University Parkway at Pat
rick Mill Road SW, Wind
er, where a woman reported
being harassed by anoth
er driver as she was driv
ing on University Parkway
approaching Patrick Mill
Road.
•outstanding arrest war
rant and willful obstruction
of law enforcement officers
at a Wages Road, Auburn,
residence, where a man fled
from the residence when
officers attempted to serve a
warrant.
Winder Police Department Incidents
Theft of medication reported
to Winder Police Department
The Winder Police Depart
ment recently responded to
the following incidents:
•theft of medication from
a Stovall Street residence.
A man reported someone
entered his apartment and
stole some of his prescrip
tion medication.
•striking an unattended
vehicle at a Dianne Drive
residence.
A man at this location
reported damage to his 2011
Jeep Wrangler. He said he
drove to multiple places
where the damage could
have occurred.
•outstanding arrest war
rant at an East Athens Street
location, where a man riding
a bicycle on the sidewalk
where pedestrians were
walking was stopped.
•failure to obey a traffic
control device, knowingly
driving a motor vehicle on
a suspended, cancelled or
revoked registration and no
insurance at a South Jackson
Street location, where the
driver of a 2006 BMW was
stopped for making an illegal
left turn.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle with
the intent to commit a theft
or other felony at Winder
Coin Laundry on West May
Street. A woman reported
the theft of her purse out
of her 2003 Ford Explorer
while at this location.
•possession of marijua
na, possession and use of
drug-related objects, expired
license plate and non-com
pliance to Georgia resident
has 60 days to change name/
address on Loganville High
way, where a traffic stop was
initiated on the driver of a
1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
•prisoner transport from
the Gwinnett County Jail to
the Winder Police Depart
ment on East Midland Ave
nue.
•outstanding arrest war
rant at Circle K, West May
Street, where a hold-up
alarm was reported. The
employee stated he acti
vated the hold-up alarm to
summon officers due to a
customer passing counterfeit
money and he didn’t want
the customer to know that he
was calling the police.
•theft by taking at a Wil
liams Court residence, where
a woman reported the theft
of her son’s bicycle from
the yard.
•driving while driver’s
license is suspended or
revoked on East Midland
Avenue, where a traffic stop
was initiated on the driver of
a 2007 Dodge Caliber.
•outstanding arrest warrant
at Calvary Baptist Church on
Highway 82, where a male
was picked up from a Geor
gia State Patrol trooper.
•theft by taking at Arbor
Woods Subdivision on Pun-
kin Junction Road, Bethle
hem, where a man reported
the theft of lumber.
