Prioritizing Self Care
-TaNissha Major
Activities Director
Greetings to you all from the residents and staff of Pine View! We have been enjoying each day with
activities that enhance our quality of life. This week we emphasized the importance of self-care.
This was a topic that was beneficial for both the employees and residents of PineView. At a time,
such as the present it is very important to take care of yourself; spiritually, emotionally, physically,
and socially. The activities that have been provided throughout the week ensures that self-care is
being met. On Monday massages and manicures provided the residents with improved value of their
appearance. Allowing the ladies to choose the polish of their preference brought meaning to the
event as they relaxed while receiving soft hand massages with fragrant scented lotions.
We had music and exercise at the end of each hall to allow the residents to social distance. Music of
the 70's and 60's got the residents moving. They enjoyed listening to the music of their genre. The
residents often found themselves getting lost in the music and forgetting to perform the exercises.
Music is always a go-to form of self-care.
We'll be listening to gospel music tomorrow to cater to the spiritual self-care. Each resident will
also recite their favorite scripture and let everyone know the importance of the scripture in their life.
Remember to keep PineView in your prayers as we continue to care for those, we all love. Until
next week....be blessed!

Spring Planning
Now the Holidays are gone it’s
time to look at our gardens and
begin planning for Spring. With
a new year, comes the time to
plan for spring plants. Over the
next several weeks, I will be
featuring plants that will be fun
to grow in your garden. A few
of them will be different and
new and some are old ones.
Perennials are always a favor
ite in any garden, because once
you get the plants established,
they will return year after year.
And with perennials, you can
add a few annuals and you
have a colorful and interesting
garden. My goal is to have my
yard full of blooms as much of
the year as possible with the
least amount of work and cost.
Perennials is a way to help with
cost and work, because once
you have the plants established,
they will return year after year.
Asclepias Hello Yellow is a
carefree plant with a cheer
ful nature. This sunny plants
is a butterfly’s best friend. If
you love butterflies, then this
is the plant for you. The plant
is covered in strikingly bril
liant yellow blooms in early to
late summer. The Asclepias is
a host plant for the enchanting
Monarch Butterfly, as well as
other pollinators. Remember,
we NEED pollinators for our
food. Even hummingbirds love
the yellow blooms.
The Asclepias is a North
American native plant that is
drought tolerant,
once established
and is vigorous.
The flowers are
fragrant and bloom
in abundance dur
ing the long sum
mer season. Plant
the Asclepias in
groups to gain the
most benefit from
visiting butterflies
and other pollina
tors. The Asclepias
Talmadge Fries
is ideal for anchoring a border
or creating a unique cut flower
arrangement.
As a bonus the Asclepias is
deer resistant and loves full
sun, which means this plant
can go where a lot of plants
can’t go, because they would
be burnt from the summer sun.
As always, join your local
garden club for a wealth of
information and fellowship.
