highest bond ratings

Governor Brian P. Kemp announced
Georgia again secured the highest rat
ings of AAA with a stable outlook from
each of the three main credit rating
agencies. Of the states that issue general
obligation bonds, only nine currently
meet this standard. Georgia’s upcoming
general obligation bond sale will fund
over $1.1 billion in capital projects. The
Peach State’s AAA ratings will enable
the state to sell its bonds at the lowest
possible interest costs when it takes bids

Chance stated that these Forums are open to all interested persons wishing to “make a difference in
ir nation’s future by engaging through local involvement”. The May 25th presentation, and the open
scussion that followed, piqued the interest of a crowd of about forty citizens including, above left,

Board and Chair of Commissioners hold Special Called Meeting
to increase spending in both current and proposed budgets

The Carroll County Board of
Commissioners met for a Special
Called Meeting Thursday, May 19,
2021, where the county’s finance
director informed the board and
chair that the county’s actual reve
nues for FY2021 was approximately
$4.5 million above what had been
anticipated. The board and chair
then voted on numerous amend
ments to both the current budget and
the proposed budget to fill the
$4.5M increase.
The finance director then
informed then that after those
budget adjustments, there would still
be approximately $831,000 remain
ing. She suggested to the board and
chair to consider giving employees
bonuses with that remaining bal
ance.
For a finance director to publicly
offer to an elected board how to
spend taxpayer monies was, if noth
ing else, unusual. The question
begged as to whether she had been
prompted to do so, and by who, to
act outside of the normal job respon
sibility boundaries.

The Carroll County Board of
Commissioners met for a work ses
sion Thursday afternoon, May 27,
2021, where the county finance
director informed the board and
chair that projected revenues over
projected expenses had yielded
another $150,000 extra during April,
increasing the FY2021 extra monies
from $4.5M to $4.65. The extra
