elected captain of the foot-hall
team, and will prove a splendid
man for the place. We think it is
unfortunate that the management
has delayed so long in bringing the
trainer here. He should have been

Compulsoiy Chapel.
The trustees at their iiiuctiig* lit
I no last, decided lo abolish com
pulsory chapel.
The wisdom and common sense of
this action, no right thinking man
:an doubt. It is an old and true
saying that “one man can lead a
horae to water, but ten can’t make
him drink.” One small rule in the
inatniel may force students to at
tend chapel, but a slack of rules as
high as the tower of Italiel, and a
Board of Trustreea as great in num
ber as the army of Xerzes, cannot
force them to i mbihe religion.
Compulsory chapel was a blot
upon the spotless record of our Alma
Mater, a disgrace to civilization. It
is dead. *Hrquinaoit in jxire”
