Once more Tiik Kkd and Brack
makes its appearance under the
guidanevship of new hands, and
greets one and all.
Our pleasure in once again see
ing the familiar faces of the hoys
of last year is only equaled liy the
welcome we extend to those who
now begin their college course at
the U. of (1.
Tiik Kkd and Hi.ack, with bright
prospects, starts once again to
launch its ship on the literary sea.
l<ct one nnd all contribute to its
launching by coining forward with
their subscriptions. Boys, do you
want the college news? Do you
want the happenings which will oc
cur from day to day on the campus
and In the t’lassio City? If so, Tiik
Ki d and Bi ack is the place to look
for same. Every Saturday
will this sheet make its ap-
pearanee before you filled with jusi
what you want. Thia ia the only
publication which will record the
new* of college thia year, laiat
year our contemporary, “The Uni
versity Magazine," called upon you
for a subscript ion, but from the
present outlook it is a thing of the
past. So, taking these facta in
view, surely everyone can afford
the price of one dollar for the col
lege newa for nine nioulha. Of
eourae, to run a paper cost* money.
Printer* are not wot king for the
love of the thing. Wo are fully
aware.li at it i* thought by many
that the pa|wr is heir to a bad debt
contracted by last year's staff.
Now, we wish it to be understood
that we are not encumbered by any
such legacy and don't intend to be,
for we feel assured that the boys
are going to support ns by well

With this introduction we present
to you No. 1 of Vol. II. Hoping
that it will prove beneficial and in
structive to the students of the old
University of Georgia and the world
at large.’
COLLEGE POLITICS.
When Tiik Ukd and Black first
made its appearance last- year it
look its stand on an anti political
platform. This principal we still
hold and ulthough wu may he
treading in dangerous ground iu
thus speaking, we feel we are on
IDS right side. College politics
has a tendency to cause a wid e
breach between the college students.
College men should he as a whole
with the interests of their Alma
Mater at heart, not as two or more
separate bodies continually pulling
away from one another. The old
motto of “United we stand Divided
we fall" applys to the college man
as well as one. The right man in
lbe right place should be our
maxim. To break up politics at
the U. of G. of course would require
that the hoys look to the good of
the grand old University
and pull together. Things have
gone entirely too far in politics at
the U. of ti. and there is no telling
where it will end. May Tiik Ukd
and Black soon see the word Fac
tions become obsolete in the Vo
cabulary of the University student.
I Thia is plain talk we know still we
feel all will realize that we are
realy speaking with the good of the
college at heart and hope none will
misunderstand us or lake offense at
same.
