Georgia Boys Show up Weil.lHowever,
and Play a Fine fame Score 7 to3.
On a fine afternoon with a
host of bright faces to look en
couragement at them, the 'Var
sity met defeat at the hands of
the Ithacans on last Thursday,
by a score ot 7 to 3. It was
our first inter-collegiate game,
and in view of the fact that we
were up against one of the
strongest college teams of the
country, the result should en
courage rather than discourage
us.
I he game has demonstrated
that our material is of a supe
rior quality, and has given rise
to many hopeful expressions as
to baseball outlook. In batting
our men made a good showing,
getting several nice hits and
showing a disposition to find
the ball.
In base running our men ex
celled, though in some cases
we think too much risk is taken.
For Georgia's outfield, Baxter
diil the star work, while Cor
nell's fielding was good through
out. McBride at short played
his usual good game. Walker
showed up well at third and
Bounsaville played a surpris
ingly good game behind the bat.
Hall, whet her at 2nd or in the
box, proved a strong feature of
the game. Blackshear played
a good game at first and second.
