The Thalians Tonight.
Tonight tho Thalians, with
their annual performance, close
the season of attractions at the
Opera House.
In order that the presentation
might be altogether satisfactory,
no limit has been set upon the
practice time, and tho occasion
was posponed more than once.
The entertainment divides it
self into two parts. The first
scene is the ideal room of a col
lege boy to which the fellows
come for pleasure and practice.
In these circumstances are sot
the numbers of the first part.
1. Opening Chorus, “Our Na
tion’s Guard.”
2. “Protestations”—James B.
Ridley.
3. Quartette—Ridley, Young
W. Calhoun, Young N.
4. “Friends”—Phinizy Cal
houn, with full chorus.
5. “ForThis”—W. H. Young
ft. “Oriental Coon”—Banks
and Powell’ with full chorus.
7. “Always”—E. P. Shannon
S. Quartette.
9. “The Mountebank’s Song—
E. W. Young.
10. Closing chorus—“Oh,Lis
ten to the Band!”
After but a short wait, the
the curtain rises upon the open
ing situation in “Lend Me Five
Shillings,” which has been
made famous by Mr. Jefferson.
The caste follows:
Capt. Phobbs—Powell.
Mrs. Capt. Phobbs—Mis. Ma
ry Lyndon.
Capt. Spruce—Mann.
Moreland—Ridley, J. B.
Sam—Andrews.
Mrs. Major Phobbs—Miss Lu-
cile Broadnax.
Golightly—Blun.
Those who are enabled to at
tend this performance need not
fear that they will do pure char
ity, for, whilst the proceeds are
to be devoted worthily, the
pleasure held out is greater than
a dollar. The Thalians deserve
a liberal patronage.
