Thursday’s Game.
The ’Varsity won out from
Harmony Grove on Thursday
last by a score of 8 to 7. The
game was interesting through
out and abounded in exciting
situations.
The score was twice tied and
not until the last half of the bth
inning was the game decided.!
The features of the game
were the running one hand catch I
by Rice, (}., in center field,!
cutting what looked to be a two
base hit by (’ox, and McBride’s
stop at short of a smoking
ball by falling in front of it.
Both teams hatted well. Rich-!
ardson’s work in the box was!
good. For Harmony Grove Ed
wards relieved by Rice, B., did
the twirling.

1st inning.
Jackson come up for Harmo
ny Grove and hit to right field
and got 1st on fielder’s error.
Beusse hit to 3rd and Jackson
scoredon Whitfield’s wild throw
to 2nd, Beusse going to 3rd.
Rice hit to left field for two
bases and Beusse scored. Hub-
hard struck out. Thurmond
flew out to right field. Rice, (}.,
went to went to 2nd on right
fielder's error, and Rice, W. B.,
scored. Edwards hit to short
and was thrown out at 1st .
McBride for Georgia hit to
Beusse and got 3rd on wild
throw to 1st. (’ox flew out to
center and McBride scored.
Hall flew out on high foul. El
der hit to center and got 2nd on
left fielder’s error, and stole
3rd. Whitfield struck out.
2nd inning.
Barber flew out to left field.
David struck out. Jackson hit
to pitcher and out at 1st.
Baxter bunted, but failed to
beat it out. Ridley hit 1st and
out. Hull flew out to short.
3rd inning.
Beusse hit to 2nd and out at
1st. Rice hit safe between
short and 3rd. Hubbard hit to
3rd and Rice went out at 2nd
on player’s choice. Thurmond
hit safe over second. Rice, G.,
flew out to center.
Richardson struck out. Mc
Bride hit to short and safe at
first. Cox hit to center and was
out on it running one-hand catch
by Rice, G., doubling on Mc
Bride at first.
4tii inning.
Edwards hit safe to right
field. Barber went out on foul
to Ilall. David struck out.Jack-
son flew out to right field.
Hall got base on balls, Elder
bunted to 3rd and out 1st. Hall
was caught off second and out. I
Whitfield hit to right field for
two bases. Baxter hit for two
bases over 2nd and Whitfield
scored. Ridley hit by pitcher,
Hull flew out to Beusse.

Beusse hit through Elder for
1 base. Rice hit to center for
two bases and Beusse scored,
Rice stealing third. Hubbard
flew out to short. Thurmond
hit to first and out Rice scoring.
Rice, G., hit to 2nd and out at
first.
Rice went in the box for Har
mony Grove. Richardson hit
to 2nd and safe at 1st. McBride
got base on halls and Richard
son was caught out stealing
third. Cox hit to short and out
at 1st. McBride was out steal
ing 3rd.
6th inning.
Edwards hit to short and out
fit 1st. Barber flew out to Cox
in deep center. David stiuck
out.
Hall got base on balls, Elder
hit to short and safe at 1st, Hull
stealing third and scoring a mo
ment biter on throw by pitcher
to 1st. Whitfield hit to short
and safe on players chance at
2nd. Baxter hit to pitcher and
Elder out fit 3rd on pitcher’s
chance. Ridley hit to pitcher
ond out at first. Hull struck
out.

Jackson hit to pitcher and out
fit first. Beusse Hew out to Mc
Bride. Rice hit through short
for 1st base. Hubbard hit safe
over third. Thurmond hit to
first.
Richardson bit to pitcher and
out at 1st. McBride hit to 2nd
and out at 1st. Cox got a slow
one toward pitcher and beat it
out. Hall hit between short
find 3rd for two bugs. Elder hit
through 3rd for two bags, and
Cox and Hall scored, tieing the
score—f, and 6. Whitfield hit
over 2nd nnd Elder scored.
Baxter hit to pitcher and was
out at 1st.
Hth inning.
Rice, G., hit safe past 1st.
Edwards hit to Elder and Rice
was out at 2nd by choice. Bur
lier flew out to center. David
struck out.
Ridley hit to short and was
out at 1st. Hull hit to 2nd and
out at 1st. Richardson hit to
1st and out.
9th inning.
Jackson hit to McBride and
safe at 1st. Beusse hit safe to
right field. Rice, B„ hit a hot
ground ball to McBride, which
he saved by falling in front of it.
Hubbard hit safe over 3rd and
Jackson and Beusse scored.
Thurmond hit to 1st and out!
Rice, G., hit to short and was
out at 1st.
McBride came up for Georgia
with Harmony Grove one run
ahead, and hit safe to short and
j went to second on passed ball
by catcher. Cox hit to pitcher
find was safe on Rice’s trial at
McBride going to 3rd. Hall hit
| to 2nd and McBride scored, tie
ing the score, Hall reaching 1st
on Jackson’s error. Cox scored
a moment later on catcher's er
ror, and the game stood 3 to 7
in Georgia’s favor.

I he Clemson (lame
After our experience of Inst
week in endeavoring to get Ho- 1
wanee in a sack, we thought we i
had learned the trick and could
easily secure Clemson for Fri
day, hut the South Carolinians
are too oily and have escaped us
for awhile.
We have them, however, sla
ted for Wednesday, May 16, and
may discover that we have
caught more than we expected.
