city has consented to address the so
ciety next Friday evening on Justice
court procedure.
I lie election of officers for the
next ten successive meetings was Idr
the consideration of the society.
I here hail been no canvassing for
votes, as the Society has taken a de
cided stand to place its elections
solely upon the basis of merit. Sev
end men were nominated, but the
second ballot resulted in a majority
vote for Mr. F. K. Kllis. Mr. Kilts
is a member of the Senior I .aw Class,
and is in every particular ipialified to
give the Society a successful adminis
tration. Mr. M. H. Itlnckshear was
unanimously elected Secretary and
Treasurer.
The l.aw Debating Society has
been in existence just ten weeks, and
already the members have received
valuable training in the matter of
handling question* of law and fact.
The practical importance of this soci
ety cannot be overestimated.
The speakers for the evening were
Talbert and Harris for the affirms
live, and Shaw and Coogler for the
negative. Judge Kllis and Connally
rendered their decision in favor of
the side advocated by Talbert and
Harris, from which opinion ludge
Hopkins dissented.

On account of the heavy track anil
for other reasons there has been little
i done by the track squad recently.
We must remember that it is not two
weeks before field day, and get in all
the work possible. There is still too
small an attendance on track work.
More students must come out. We
[can scarcely boast of ten regular men
[ on the track squad.
However, if we lack numbers, we
have several men of whose quality we
may well boast. Bower bids fair to
beat his last year's record at the pole
vault. Hearing is also a high vaulter. j
Blount is making ati excellent record {
as a high jumper. Manley recently
made the half mile in 2:16. Hear
ing’s hurdling is phenomenal. We
doubt if there is a faster quartet of I
college runners in the South than
Kngland, Baxter, Harmon and Hear
ing. With such representatives as
these, Ueorgia is sure to hold her
own on the intercollegiate meets.
