CLEMSON TIGERS
WIN THE GAME
Loose Playing on the Part of the Varsities
Caused Georgia's Defeat by a Score
of 13 to 8.
Work of Myddelton in the Box Deserving of Special Commen-
dation.-Clemson’s Change of Pitchers the Only Thing
That Scored.-Game was Full of Errors.
Yesterday afternoon the boys in
red and black met their second de
feat of the season. The Clemson
Timers fresh from their 10 too victory
over Davidson, just simply won the
game l>y hard and consistent playing
and we have no apologies or excuses
to make. We will state, however,
that if the Georgia team had given
“Hilly" Myddelton the support he
deserved there would very probably
be a ililTerent tale to tell. Georgia's
twirler gave no bases ou balls, while
the two Clemson pitchers allowed
four men to walk. Myddelton only
allowed nine hits, while Georgia re
ceived the suine number from Gantt
and Denby. Myddelton's first ap
pearance before an Athens audience
was greeted with cheer after cheer
and all the applause was deserved,
for he pitched a good and steady
game from beginning to end.
The best playing for Georgia was
by Myddelton, Harmon, Dickinson,
and Twitty. Harmon, out of five
times at the bat, scored two runs and
two hits and did not make even the
semblance of an error. Captain
Dickinson was up five times and
made two hits also and Twitty out of
four times up secured a hit and a
run.
For the followers of Hcisnian,
Chisolm probably deserves most
praise. He secured four hits out of
five times up and fielded faultlessly.
Sitton also distinguished himself by
knocking a home run, and Dendy.
Maxwell, and Wood all showed their
ability to play good hard ball.
Gantt, who opened up in the box
for Clemson, was soon for< ed to give
way to Dendy, who pitched a good
game from that time on.
The visiting team was composed of
a gentlemanly crowd of fellows and
they all expressed themselves as
highly pleased with Georgia and
Athens.
‘Varsity showed several changes in
her line up. Clarke and Harmon
were shifted around, the former go
ing to third and “Musky" taking
care of second. On account of
Jagues’ stonebruises he was unable
to take part in the game, and Ander
son covered the center in faultless
style.
I he game, with the exception of a
few innings, was a veritable “comedy
of errors” and, if Georgia is to come
up to expectations, a little more
ginger and team work must be in
jected into the players.
The score by innings was as fol
lows:
FIRST INNING.
Clemson takes the field and Clarke
opens up for Georgia. lie waited
until four bad ones had been thrown
and then walked to first and stole
j second. Harmon followed and (lew-
out to center Maxwell. Next came

bad balls, Clarke, in the mean time,
stealing third. Twitty takes the

Chet Clarke opens up for Georgia
by knocking the sphere over Murray
Hill, for two bags, a hit which would
have been a home run had it not

good lor only two bags. “Simple
Simon" Harmon follows suit anil
does precisely the same thing, scor
ing Clarke. Next comes Walker who
goes out from short to first. ’Twitty

run'' out of it, scoring another lor the
Tigers. Wood gets hit and walks and

tween first and second and lands on
