nine-thirty and end at one o’clock.
The last dance, that of Saturday
evening, will begin at nine and end
at the midnight hour.
Ag- Club Holds its
First Square Dance
The Agricultural club gave its first
square dance of,the seasotj Satur
day night in Hardman hall. It was
well attended, and everybody seemed
to have a good old-fashioned time.
Delightful punch was served be
tween dances to the thirsty quadril-
lers.
Many alumni here for the Clem-
son game attended the dance, and
John Harlowe and Goat Tanner, did
most of the calling.
The music was furnished by the
Campus orchestra composed of Luke
Stancil, Jessie Drew, Shorty Mad
dox, and Frank Spano.

Pan-Hellenic to
Hold Two Dances
Mercer Week-End
Plans have been laid for the most
elaborate week-end since Homecom
ing by the Pan-Hellenic council dur
ing the ensuing two days. The Mer
cer game and the crowds which will
come from different parts of the
state, especially Macon, have oc
casioned two dances, one Friday
night and one Saturday night.
The council has secured the Car
olina Gamecocks to play for the af
fairs. The Gamecocks are rated as
one of the best college orchestras in
the entire South, according to re
ports, and these musicians give
promise of a good entertainment.
Practically the whole Mercer stu
dent body is planning to attend the
game and naturally the dances.
Most of the fraternities are acting
as hosts to house parties and quite!
a number of the fair sex is expected '
from various parts of the South.
The Lambda Chi fraternity is
giving a tea dance at the Georgian
hotel Saturday afternoon immediate
ly after the game. The Friday even
Interfrat Meet
Will Convene in
New York Soon
The Interfraternity conference, an
nual gathering of delegates from
practically every men’s fraternity at
American colleges and universities,
will meet at the Hotel Pennsylvania
in New York November 25 and 26.
More than 200 delegates, represent
ing 60 different fraternities and com
ing from a hundred institutions of
learning, will be present when the
conference is called to order by
Judge William H. Baynes, chairman
of the interfraternity organization.
A number of college presidents
and a score of deans and professors
from all sections of the country will
meet with the fraternity delegates
for a mutual discussion of collegiate
problems. Among the colleges to be
represented will be Illinois, Yale,
Cornell, Columbia, Penn State, Rut
gers, Wisconsin, Minnestota, Michi
gan, and many others.

Inner Circle of
Pioneers to Give
Reception Friday
An informal reception will be giv
en by the inner circle of the Pioneer
club Friday evening at eight o’clock
for the officers and distinguished
guests of the State Federation of
Women’s clubs which will hold a con
vention November 18 at Memorial
hall.
The Pioneer club, being federated
with the Athens Woman's club, is
co-hostess with it for this convention.
Plans for the reception are being
arranged by Katisue Whitehead,
Frances Forbes and Eunice Stoke-
iy.
No invitations will be issued but
students and faculty members and
their wives are invited to attend.
MILITARY FRAT. HOLDS
INITIATION THURSDAY
A banquet and secret initiation to
the Scabbard and Blade, national
honorary military fraternity, was
held Thursday night at the Georgian
hotel.
Miss Margaret Wall was the guest
of Miss Sarah Carmichael at Monroe
last week-end.
Y.M. C.A Will Bid
For Lower Floor
Of Demostheman
Bids for leasing the lower floor of
Demosthenian hall will be submitted
by the Georgia Co-operative society
and the University Y. M. C. A. for
the consideration or the society at
its next regular meeting Wednesday
night.
The G club and The Red and Black
office, located in Demoshenlan hall,
will move into the Commerce-Jour
nalism building on its completion
some time after January 1. The
space vacated by them will bo leased
by the society to one of the two
bidders.
An amendment to the Demosthen-
ian constitution whereby the society
would pay the full price of Demos-
thenian keys was Introduced at the
meeting Wednesday night by H. D.
Shattuck. In the past the cost has
been evenly divided between the so
ciety and the wearers. Mr. Shat
tuck also suggested that the keys
he changed so as to make them more
attractive and individual. This mat
ter will he discussed and voted
upon laler.
Mrs. Lester C. Culver will be the
guest of Miss Susie Day Powell at the
Alpha Gamma Delta house soon.
Y. M. C. A. Plans
New Service For
Thanksgiving Day
The Y. M. C. A. plans the inaugu
ration of a Thanksgiving service, to
become an annual event at the Uni
versity, and to be promoted by the
Y. M. C. A. and the Y. W. C. A.
Arthur Gignilliat, Y. M. C. A. pres
ident. who originated this plan, an
nounces that the first of these ser
vices will be held Tuesday evening,
November 22, in the University
chapel. The speakers for the oc
casion will include Dean S. V. San
ford. Dr. A. M. Soule, and Dr. J. C.
Wilkinson, pastor of the First Bap
tist church of Athens.
That the University of Georgia will
be represented at the Tenth Quad
rennial Convention of the Student
Volunteer Movement, to he held In
Detroit from December 28, 1927, to
January 2, 1928, was definitely as
certained at the meeting of the Y
cabinet last Thursday.
According o Mr. E. L. Secrest, gen
eral secretary, there will he 11 Geor
gia men at the convention, which is
the biggest of its kind occurring in
the Untied States. Practically every
major college In the nation will be
represented. It Is not yet definitely
known who will compose the dele
gation from he University.
