Sigs for Lead
Chalking up its fifth win in as
many starts, the S. A. E. club con
tinued to lead the Blue Key touch
football league Monday after smash
ing Chi Psi, 27 to 0.
The Solms brothers, James and
Tony, were responsible for 24 of
the fraternity's points, and the vic
tory placed the undefeated team a
notch nearer the league crown, with
only two more games remaining to
be played. Lambda Chi Alpha turn
ed back A. T. O., 20 to 0, in the only
week-end result in the Blue Key cir
cuit.
Again led by its formidable trio
of Rucker, Gillespie, and Daves, Old
College scored an 18 to 0 triumph
over Collins’ House Monday to keep
pace with undefeated Phi Delta
Theta in the "X” Club championship
chase. The two leaders clash next
Monday in the game which is ex
pected to decide the league title.
Pi Kappa Alpha rolled over K. A.,
15 to 0, in another recent league
tilt.
Sanford League play has yet to
disclose an outstanding team, three
outfits having a definite chance to
cop the title. Of the three, Pi K. A.
is at present leading the circuit as a
result of Monday’s 2 to 0 win over
Kappa Sigma. The other teams fol
lowing closely are Chi Phi and Sig
ma Nu. The Nus battled to their
third tie of the season when they
engaged in a 6-6 deadlock with Sig
ma Chi Thursday. In a game which
had been postponed because of the
rain, A. E. Pi eked out a one-point
decision over Kappa Sigma, 8 to 7.
With the 1937 tennis tournament
over, intramural activities are now
concentrated in rifle matches and the
golf tournament.

GUARANTEED BARGAINS
BIG DAYS
Georgia’s “B” team will oppose
the Blue Battalion of Riverside Mil
itary Academy in its second game of
the season in Sanford Stadium Nov.
12.
“We’ll try to get enough men to
gether to play this game,” ventured
Coach Weems Baskin Monday. Due
to injuries to several members of
the squad while presenting Tennes
see plays for the benefit of the var
sity, the scheduled game to have
been played last Friday against the
Georgia Tech Bee team was cancel
led.
Refreshed by a day of complete
rest Monday, Georgia’s battle-scar
red Bulldogs return to work this
afternoon as preparation is begun
for the annual clash with the Uni
versity of Florida in Jacksonville,
Fla., Saturday.
Minor injuries were prevalent at
nearly every position as Coach Har
ry Mehre sent the squad through
a light session this afternoon, and
said that scrimmaging would neces
sarily be light this week. None of
the injuries, however, are expected
to keep any player out of the ’Gator
tilt. |
The Bulldogs were naturally dis
appointed at losing to Tennessee
last week, 3 2 to 0, but the game was
not nearly as one-sided as was the
Bulldog-Vol contest last fall, and
the Georgia team spirit is much high
er than it was at the corresponding I
period last year.
“We just had the misfortune to
meet a good club on one of its ‘hot’
days,” commented Mehre In discuss
ing the loss to Tennessee.
