Cup to Be Awarded
Intramural Winner
InDebating Contest
A silver loving cup awaits the
sorority or dormitory winning the
second intramural deliate competi
tion beginning Nov. 15, It was an
nounced today by Elizabeth Mathis,
Americas, debate chairman.
The subject which was chosen by
PI Kappa Delta, national honorary
debating fraternity, is “Resolved:
That Franklin Delano Roosevelt
should be re-elected in 1!I40.” Each
University dormitory and sorority
house will be represented by two
spanker* who will be allotted eight
minutes on the debate and four min
utes for rebuttal.
Volunteer representatives of the
competing houses drew sides and
dates at a meeting of the Pioneer
Club last week. Each bouse will be
allowed to select their own repre
sentatives and are urged to notify
the debate chairman not later than
Nov. 8, submitting the names of
their debaters.
Delta Phi Epsilon won the cup
offered last year by Miss Carolyn
Vance of the English department.

The Lyrian Club of the Sophomore
Council met in the Little White
House Monday afternoon at 5 o’clock.
Selene Bloodworth, Athens, presided;
Betty Stoffregen, Esom Hilil, gave
the devotional. Kathleen Brannen,
Atlanta, directed the program which
had for its subject "Service.” Eloise
Beckwith, Athens, was In charge of
refreshments.
Initiation services were held Sun
day afternoon by the Thalian-Black-
frlars Dramatic Club for Louis Sohn,
Atlanta.
.Members of the Hunt Club were
guests of the Jockey Olub Saturday
afternoon on a 12-mlle horseback
ride.
