A. L. Weill, Atlanta, opening the
debate for tin affirmative, pointed
out the advertising value of u suc
cessful big-time football team, lie

James Hacke, Athens, questioned
the scholastic standing of schools en
gaged in big-time football. He held
that further emphasis would distort
the viewpoint of studsnts and fac
ulty.

I)r. John W. Nuttycombe was the
speaker at the initial session of the
newly organized Zoology Seminar
Thursday afternoon. His subject
was “Culture Methods in Proto
zoology."
The seminar is to be a regular
feature of the graduate work in the
department of zoology and bacteriol
ogy. (leneral topic tor the next
eight weeks is protozoology, a phase
of parasitology.

Robert Allen. Riverdale. and H
H. Payne, Maysville, were selected
in the tryouts Wednesday afternoon
to represent the Ag Club In a debate
with Auburn in Auburn. Ala..

The Baby Chick and Egg Show to
be held in Augusta March 24. 25.
and 26. and the Twin States Live
stock Show, Feb. 22 and 23. are fea
tured in the February issue of the
tleorgia Agriculturist. The maga
zine is now being circulated.

Dean Chapman also stressed the

talks to the Macon and Blakely Ro
tary Clubs Wednesday and Thurs
day. respectively.

Cavalry officer now on duty in the
Philippine Islands, has been ordered
to Athens to replace Maj. Harold G.
Holt, assistant IV M. S. & T. since
1932, who has been transferred to
Ft. Meade, S. I).
Major Shufelt's tour of duty in the
Philippines ends May l hut it Is not

Major Holt came here Dec. 1,
1932. from Ft. Bliss, Texas.
Mujor Shufelt Is a graduate of
Syracuse University, the United
States Cavalry School, and the United
States Air Corps Tactical School. He
entered the army In i 17. and held
the rank of cuptaln during the war.
