Plan Annual Dances
For Saturday Night
Alpha Omicron Pt and Kappa Del
ta sororities will hold their annual
winter quarter dances Saturday night
from 8 p.m. until 12 M.
AOPi's 21st Rose Rail is scheduled
for the Georgian Hotel ballroom, with
tile Emory Aces providing the music.
Preceding the semi-formal affair,
AOPI members, dates and alumnae
will he entertained at a dinner party
at the house.
Kappa Delta's Diamond Dali has
tieen announced for the KD house,
i Samuel McClandand and his "Rhy
thm Walkers" will supply music for
this semi-formal dance.
Invitations to both the Rose Rail
I and Diamond Ball have been eztend-
I <'d to members of all fraternities and
I sororities and to dormitory residents.
Girl of the Week
Lee Steele, 20-year-old junior from Valdosta, is a transfer from
the University of Florida. A social science major in the College
of Education, Lee has- brown hair and eyes. A Chi Omega, she
likes to knit and she is a popular music enthusiast.

Sororities in Scholastic Averages
Active members of the 14 social sororities on campus had a com
bined scholastic average of 81.2 for fall quarter.

The new pledges are Chip Ashurst,
Agnes Broadnax, Celetta Dykes, Betty
Glenn, Martee Harden, Georgette
Harten, Liz Morris, Murrow Morris,
Sandra Murray, Dorothy McConkey,
Susan Smith and Marsha Woodruff.
New associate members are Mrs.
Harold Luper, Mrs. Stanley Ains
worth. Mrs. Lloyd Hitchcock and
Mrs. Sandra Brown.
Kellam Elected Military Queen
Nancy Kellam, Wayeross, spon
sored by Alpha Delta I*i sorority,
was crowned KOTO beauty queen
at the annual Doughboy-Flyboy
Military Ball Friday night at
Stegcman Hall.
The Army-Air Force cadets chose
the queen from a group of 20 con
testants. A brown-eyed brunette, she
is 5'5V4"and weighs 118 pounds.
Miss Kellam is a 20-year-old Jun
ior majoring In elementary education.
She is secretary-treasurer of Student
Council, a cheerleader, a member of
the Angel’s Flight and the Pep Club.
Serving on her court were Connie
Hearn, sponsored by South Myers;
Jan Williams, sponsored by Zeta Tau
Alpha; Sandra Dunn, Clit Omega,
sponsored by North Myers and Sheila
Glass, sponsored by Kappa Alpha
Theta.

Averaging 8b or above were Delta
Delta Delta. 83.7; Pi Beta Phi, 83.6;
Alpha Delta Pi. 83.3; Alpha Omicron
Pi, 82.7; Phi Mu. 81.8; Kappa Al
pha Theta, 81.6; Zeta Tau Alpha.
81, and Kappa Kappa Gamma. 80.
Remaining averages were Alpha
Gamma Delta. 79.4; Sigma Delta Tau,
78.6, and Alpha Chi Omega, 78.
The overall pledge average for the
sororities was 76.6. Pledges of Kappa
Alpha Theta led the list with an 81.4
average. Chi Omega is again in sec
ond place with 80.6, and Alpha Omi
cron Pi follows with a 78 average.
The combined active and pledge av
erages totaled 78.9.
Kapita Delta will be awarded the
Panhellenic trophy, which is given
each quarter to the sorority having
the highest scholastic average. The
Kappa Alpha Theta pledges were also
awarded a trophy by Junior Panhel
lenic.
