" henever anything is printed about a football team,
there is always praise for the ones that do the scoring and
play the most. But there are many forgotten ones on the
Georgia football team, and they deserve recognition.
There is John McEachern who sat out last season due
to an injury but is back now and just a junior. Barry
\\ ilson is another end who is playing but receives little
credit. Mike Gaboon, George Norwicki, and Kay Crawford
also do their share as end coach LeRoy Pearce will tell
you.
• • •
When the going gets tough, football teams often try to
make their way through the middle of the line, and the
men who do the work up front are the ones forgotten
first.
Jimmy Whitehead, Bill Ivey, Mike Cole, and Gerald
Winsett are ready and willing tackles, and all of them will
be heard from before they leave Athens. The same can be
said for guards Johnny Wells, Melvin Crook, Benny Boyd,
and Bobby Allen.
Joel Darden is the apple of center coach John Tillitski’s
eye for the way that he has come through to help out the
ailing Len Hauss at the pivot spot. Darden is probably the
most under-rated football player in the Southeastern Con
ference, if not the nation. Bobby Coleman is another center
you will be hearing from in the near future.

The Kentucky record shows
one win, (Detroit), three losses,
(L.S.U., Ole Miss, and Auburn),
and one tie, (F.S.U.). In the
first five games it was the pass
ing of Wooluni that did the
damage to the opposition.
Kentucky uses tho wide tack
le, six man line on defense and
variations of the T-formation
on offense, with about a 70-30
per cent combination of run
ning and passing plays.
Rulldog mentor Johnny Grif
fith announced earlier this
week that llnebacking specialist
LeRoy Dukes of Patterson will
miss the homecoming game due
to a hip injury sustained in the
F.S.U. game. Trainer Sam Rich-
wine, however, said that Don
Porterfield of Moultrie will
“probably" be ready for action.
The Bulldogs worked out in
sweat clothes Monday before
getting down to what Griffith
called “work” Tuesday on the
passing game. Pass defense
drills were held on Wednesday
as defensive backfield coach
Bobby Procter prepared his
forces to stop the Kentucky air
raid.
The spirit on Ag Hill this
week has been somewhat lower
than last week, but captain
Ray Clark said, “That is to be
expected after the disappoint
ing loss last Saturday, but the

Pete Dickens is a T-quarterbaek with a lot of potential.
Some say he throws the ball better than Francis Tarken-
ton did when he was a sophomore. Pat Ilunnicutt is a de
fensive specialist that has already shown he can make the
big play as a sophomore.
Richard Boykin and Doug McFalls are a pair of half
backs capable of playing in the big leagues, and if the
SEC is not big league, 1 don’t know what is. Gary Glover,
Mack Faireloth, and Ralph Westmoreland are reserve full
backs that are going to share headlines before they leave
the campus.
The individuals mentioned here are all good football
players, and to them we take off our hats with a salute
that thev deserve more than anyone could describe.
