Gerry Tyer, project chairman,
explained that the sale was the
chapter's fall quarter service
project.
"We're happy to have work
ed for the Community Chest,"
Tyer said. “We also hope to
continue this snme project
through basketball season If
possible."

The Marriott Motor Hotel In Atlanta will be the scene of a
statewide interview session in late December for college juniors
and seniors from Georgia.
Sponsored by the Georgia State Chamber of Commerce, the
' Careers in Georgia Placement Program” will be held on Dec.
28 and 29.
Personnel executives conducting the interviews for nearly 100
companies operating in Georgia will represent both business
corporations and governmental agencies. Students to fill more
than 25 different types of job classifications are being sought
by the program.
According to Harold Clotfelter, state chamber president, “The
program is for the convenience of students and employers. The
Chamber's interest lies in retaining in this area well-qualified
young people who might otherwise seek employment in other
regions."
Students interested in the interview program should write
"Careers in Georgia Placement Committee,” Georgia State
Chamber of Commerce, 1200 Commerce Building, Atlanta, Geor
gia—30303. A kit containing full information on participating
companies, qualifications desired and procedures to be followed
in scheduling interviews will be sent to the student.

Students Organize Wildlife Club
Students in the University Wildlife Department, under the
guidance of Dr. R. Larry Marcliinton, held an organizational
meeting last week to establish a Georgia Student Chapter of the
Wildlife Society.
The new Georgia Chapter, which has received 50 applications
for charter membership from wildlife students, will be an af
filiate of the national parent organization, the Wildlife Society.
The following objectives were set forth by the group: (1) To
establish and maintain the highest possible professional and
academic standards, (2) To provide an opportunity for better
liaison between the individual member and the parent society,
(3) To develop all phases of game management consistent with
sound biological principles, (4) To further public understanding
of game management, and (5) To create and stimulate an inter
change of ideas between members of the profession.
Activities will include an animal wildlife supper in which in
dividual members collect and prepare various species of game an
imals, turkey shoots, technical films, guest speakers, trapping
contests, and other professionally oriented service projects.
New officers were elected for the coming year: president, Bob
Bridges; vice president, Mike Pelton; secretary, Jim Sweeney;
and treasurer. Bill Dopson.
Phi Delta Chi Designates

Lee Roy Claxton, a com
munity pharmacist from Grif
fin, has been named Georgia's
Pharmacist of the Year by the
University chapter of Phi Delta
Chi, pharmacy fraternity.
The fraternity presents the
award to a Georgia pharmacist
who has rendered notable and
outstanding community and
professional service.
Claxton was awarded a cer
tificate of merit by chapter
president Robert Rosella on
Nov. 18, as a part of homecom
ing activities for pharmacy
alumni.
Claxton, who has interest in
two Macon pharmacies, is a
graduate of the University
School of Pharmacy and a vet
eran of the U. S. Navy.
A past district president of
the Georgia Pharmaceutical As
sociation and a member of the
Georgia State Board of Health,
Claxton Is also a member of
the Kiwanis Club and a deacon
in the First Baptist Church of
Griffin. He is currently serving
as chairman of the alumni ad
visory committee of the School
of Pharmacy.
