To Show ^Parable’
“Parable," the controversial film shown at the Protestant
Pavilion of the New York World's Fair, will be featured at the
“Communitas" program of the Wesley Foundation Tuesday.
.Ian, 21. at 7 30 p.m.
The 22-minute film is an adventure in interpretation, accord
ing to Paul Hanna of the Wesley Foundation There is no verbal
dialogue throughout the film, merely response to intrapersonal
relations.
The theme of Parable' is "The Man Who Dared To Be Dif
ferent Seven main characters role-play the virtue-vice per
sonalities of modern day man Into each character's life comes
the principle character, the clown in white 'Hie entire film
is parabolic, Hanna said
The film setting is a circus, mirrors are used throughout the
film to symbolize man s search for meaning w^hin himself.

Joseph Brown Dorm Honors
Georgia’s Civil War Governor
By BOB DRASHIN
Joe Brown Hall, located
across from the Fine Arts
Building, was named in honor
of Georgia's governor during
the Civil War.
According to Gus Bernd.
historical research assistant
for the Georgia Department
of State. Joseph Brown was
never involved in slavery and
was a staunch believer in
human freedom. Brown acted
independently of the Confeder
ate government whenever
possible and was perhaps the
bitterest and foremost critic
of (Confederate President)
Jefferson Davis."
Born in South Carolina in
1821. Brown was the eldest of
11 children. The Brown family
was poor. Bernd said, and
young Joe had to earn every
thing on his own
At the age of 19. Bernd con
tinued. Brown's father let his
son go on his own in hopes of
pursuing a formal education.
Presenting two steers as
payment for eight months
board and obtaining tuition on
credit, young Brown was able
to attend college
B> teaching, he helped de
fray further educational •
Brown later graduated from
Yale Law School and was
admitted to the Georgia Bar
in 1845
He was a Superior Court
judge before becoming gover
nor and in 1880, he was ap
pointed as a U. S. Senator,
filling a vacant Senate seat.
Brown remained in the Senate
until his retirement in 1891.
He died in 1895
