honored the outstanding sen

Zeta Beta Tau has taken top
honors for the highest cumula
tive average among members
of IFC for winter quarter
A cumulative average of
3.056 was high enough for ZBT
to take the academic honor
away from FIJI, which has
held it for almost two vears.
Rowan, who is a farmer
from Enigma, Georgia, and a
graduate of the University,
told the audience that “farm
ing and land are America's
most precious commodities.”
Rowan encouraged the audi
ence to “continue to pursue
excellence in the development
of whatever you do; the follow
ing generations will require it
of you.”
He also challenged everyone
“to get involved in public
politics” so that “better people
will be in government.”
“Proceed from here with the
same gusto that got you here'
and “give it all you've got."
Rowan said. He charged the
seniors to “take your talent
and apply it so that others can
gain from it.”
After Rowan's speech the
outstanding seniors of 1974
were announced and presented
plaques by the dean from their
school John McKissick. Presi
dent of the Ag-Hill Council,

Ananda Marga holds
fast to save a people
The University chapter of
Ananda Marga is organizing a
Fast to Save a People for
tomorrow. The purpose of the
fast is to raise funds to help six
to 10 million people of Sub-Sa
hara Africa, who are suffering
an eight-year drought which
has been called the "worst
ecological disaster of the cen
tury.”
The national sponsors of the
fast are Oxfam America and
Project Relief.
Students are asked to skip at
least one meal during the day
and donate their money to the
fund An information booth will
be located in front of Memorial
Hall tomorrow and participants
can donate money at this time.
