Indians, police
battle in court
SIOUX FALLS, S. D. — A trial of five Indian militants
erupted into a club swinging, fist fighting and chair smash
ing free-for-all between police and Indian supporters
Tuesday
The Minnehaha County courtroom was left in a
shambles. Chairs were thrown through windows Indians
and supporters outside the courthouse threw tire irons,
rocks, chains and bottles through windows and doors
After the fighting stopped, ambulances arrived to take
injured Indians, spectators and law enforcement officers to
Sioux Falls hospitals
A spokesman for the Indians called it “a police riot if
there ever was one."
South Viet troops
cross into Cambodia
SAIGON — South Vietnamese troops, tanks and
warplanes crossed into the Parrot's Beak sector of Cam
bodia Tuesday for the first time since the January, 1973,
ceasefire and fought battles inside the neighboring country,
military sources reported
The sources said the incursion came during a “running
battle ' with the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese which
had begun on the approaches to Saigon, 35 miles from the
tip of the Parrot's Beak northeast of the South Vietnamese
capital
Officers said government forces crossed the Cambodian
frontier 40 miles west of the capital and pushed at least two
and one half miles into Communist sanctuaries over the
border.
Incomplete field reports said North and South Vietnam
ese armies fought at least two battles inside Cambodia
today
U. S. oil executive
returns to country
MIAMI — U S oil executive Victor E Samuelson. held
144 days by Argentine leftist guerrillas before being
ransomed for a record $14 2 million, arrived back in the
United States Tuesday.
Dressed in a blue suit, and his long blond hair flowing
over his collar, the 37-year-old Samuelson was aboard a
Varig Airline flight that arrived in Miami about 8:30 a m.
EOT.
He ignored the cameras and shouts of newsmen when he
first stepped from the plane and headed for customs.
Lafer. however, he walked out of the Customs Office and
aeknowledged his identity.

The Second Annual Great
Oconee Raft Race will be held
this Saturday afternoon
This year's race will include
competitors in four divisions: a
one-man division, a two-man
division, a three and over-div
ision. and an inflatable kayak
division All rafts must be
somehow supported by air
inflation and must be con
structed of only canvas, rubber
or plastic.
First prize winners in each
division will receive $50; sec
ond prize winners, $25; third
prize. $20; and fourth prize
winners will receive free din
ner at The Country Store for
up to four winners
Entrants must check in and
have their rafts inspected be
tween 9 am. an 11 am.
Saturday morning at the launch
site on River Road. Rafts in
the first division, the three and
over division, will be launched
at 12:30 Rafts in the remain
ing divisions will be launched
at 30-minute intervals.

combining rhythmic strokes
and stunts/'
The Dolphins compete in the
annual Aquatic Arts Festival

Athens Fine Arts Festival.
