Mike Forestner. a senior finance
major, said students have a difficult
time getting the business classes
they need in registration and con
stantly are forced to wait in long
drop-add lines
“With all the students, it's impos
sible to get major classes if you're
not registering on the first day or
early on the second, ” he said.
Lisa Newton, a junior accounting
major, said larger classrooms that
accommodate more business stu
dents aren’t helping
"You go to class and they don't
really care if you're there or not,”
she said. “Plus, the labs with tea
ching assistants are sometimes inef
fective.”
Students usually are desperate to
take any business class they can get
so they often disregard advisement
and take courses ou. of sequence,
Newton said.

Richard Rose, undergraduate pro

the committee probably will recom-

1 SAT score for admission to the pro
gram from 650 to 700, he said
However, the committee probably
will continue to require a predicted
GPA of 2.9 in University devel
opmental studies classes, Dagley
said. Previously a student with an
SAT of 650 needed a higher pre
dicted GPA than a 2.9 to obtain ad-
formance previous freshmen at the
University as compared to their
high school GPA for college prepra-
tory classes and SAT scores.
Albright said students must also
meet certain college prepratory
curriculum requirements.
Dagley said minority students
also must have a minimum pre
dicted 2.0 University GPA, but the
mission to the program, he said
The committee, as well as the fac

pearance of the 650 SAT minimum
score in comparison to the admis
sion standards for the rest of the
University, Dagley said
"We re sensitive to the need to
look like we have the same stan
dard," Dagley said.
Wayne Antenen, developmental
studies director, said that as min
imum standards for the rest of the
University go up, minimum stan
dards for development studies
should reflect those changes
The purpose of the program is to
produce students who can success
fully continue into the academic de
gree credit programs at the
University, he said.
