Senior Chris Colwill and
freshman Hannah Moore
claimed Male and Female
Divers of the Week, respec
tively, while first-year swim
mer Mark Dylla took home
SEC Male Freshman of the
Week.
Colwill, a native of
Brandon, Fla., charted vic
tories in the 1- and 3-meter
springboards during the
Invitational.
After floundering on his
second dive, Colwill, who
has won SEC Diver of the
Week five times this season
with his most recent honor
Monday, pulled it together
to earn high scores on his
final three dives and take
the title.
“He really turned it up
on those last three dives,”
diving coach Dan Laak said
in a news release. "He’s so
talented, and he has the
ability to do that when he
really needs to.”
Colwill was named the
2006-07 National Diver of
the Year, winning the 1-
and 3-meter springboards
and the platform at SEC
SPORTS
Championship, before red
shirting last season.
Moore charted a fourth
place finish in the 3-meter
springboard with a score of
274.15.
The top-ranked wom
en’s swim team won their
61st straight home meet to
improve their season
record to 8-0.
Freshman Morgan
Scroggy took first place in
the 100- and 200-

Also charting wins were
the 400-yard medley team
of Scroggy, Mhyria Miller,
Annie Broome and Kelly
McNichols, as well as
Chelsea Nauta (200-yard
freestyle), Colleen Haase
(200-yard breaststroke),
Broome (200-yard butter

(50-yard freestyle).
Georgia head coach
Jack Bauerle was happy
with his team’s all-around
showing in defeating
Southern Methodist
167-125.
“I was really pleased
with our effort across the
board,” he said in a news
release. “Our kids and
their kids were tired from
the training, but every
body gave great effort. I
was really proud of the
way our kids competed
today."
The Dogs’ next meet
will be this weekend in
Austin, as the women take

on Friday before the men
compete on Saturday.

“raise awareness for ani
mal abuse." Winton
added she will donate a
percentage of the busi
ness’ profit to animal
charities, once the chari
ties are selected.
The idea for the Vick
toy came from Winton’s
father, who told her it
would be a good idea to
allow all the dogs in the
worlckto get some
revenge on Vick.
Vick was sentenced to
23 months in jail on Dec.
10, 2007 for his role in an
illegal dog fighting ring
in his hometown of
Newport News, Va. When
Winton heard the news of
Vick's involvement, it
upset her, as she is a self
proclaimed “true dog
lover.”
“I thought it was terri
ble. This was unbeliev
able for someone that
was given the dream to
play sports professional
ly,” she said. “He’s play
ing in front of millions of
fans. I can't believe this
was his decision.”
Winton and some of
her friends recently
trekked to Richmond to
hand out fliers for the toy
outside the courthouse
where Vick was arraigned
and later sentenced.
Winton’s jump into the
business world comes
after about three-and-a
half years of working in
television. After graduat
ing from the University,
Winton worked as a cast
ing producer for the tele
vision shows “What Not
to Wear” on TLC, “Stump
the Schwab,” which aired
on ESPN and the Drew
Carey-hosted “Power of
10" on CBS. Winton, who
majored in speech com
munications, now resides
in New York City.
Winton accomplished a
lot on the soccer field
during her time at the
University.
After tearing two ACL’s
in her sophomore and
junior years, she set the
Bulldogs' single game
scoring record during her
senior campaign by
notching four goals
against Liberty in 2003.
She scored 16 goals dur
ing that season, placing
her in second place
behind Stephanie Yarem
in single season goals
scored. Yarem scored 18
in 1997.
As for Winton’s busi
ness, she said more toys
will be added soon. With
the upcoming presiden
tial election, there will be
candidates from both
political parties available,
allowing the dogs to vent
theirs' and their owners’
political frustrations.
As of now, the Vick toy
is the only item for a
business that consists “of
six people, two Shih
Tzus, one golden retriev
er, one sheep dog and too
many cats to count.”
“We’re Just all animal
lovers,” Winton said. “We
thought this was a great
chance to raise awareness
about animal abuse.”
