PICK OF THE WEEK:
BROKEN BELLS
This indie rock duo features Brian Burton and James Mercer, both famous
people by themselves. Most people know Burton by the name “Danger Mouse”
and his work as a musician and producer. He’s worked with artists such as
Cee-Lo Green as part of the group Gnarls Barkley and produced his own
albums of mixed music. The other half of this dynamic pair is James Mercer,
the lead guitarist and vocalist for The Shins.
After meeting at the Danish music festival, Roskilde Festival, and admiring
each others’ styles, the two decided to start working together. They joined
forces in March 2008, released their first single, “The High Road,” in 2009 and
released their first full album on March 9. This now-sold-out show promises to
be off the charts for any indie rock fan!
