MACON, Ga.—At the annual
meeting of the Macon Branch of
the Catholic Laymen’s Association
of Georgia, R. Habenicht Casson,
who has recently resumed the
practice of Jaw here after serving
four years as a Commander in the
U. S. Navy, was elected president,
lo succeed Martin J. Callaghan,
who has held that office for sev
eral years. Mr. Callaghan was
made honorary vice-president of
the state-wide Association at the
convention held in Albany last
fall.
Other officers elected by the
Mac-on 'Branch are Mis6 Frances

Loynd, treasurer, and the follow
ing vice-presidents,, Francis T.

BROTHERHOOD WEEK
OBSERVED IN GEORGIA
ATLANTA, Ga. — Under the
general chairmanship of Ralph
McGill, editor of The Atlanta Con
stitution, Brotherhood Week was
appropriately observed this year
throughout the State of Georgia,
in connection with the nationwide
observance, sponsored by the Na
tional Council of -Christians and
Jews.
In groups of three, religious
leaders. Catholic, Protestant • and
Jewish, spoke before civic clubs,
high school students, and other
gatherings in various cities of
Georgia. Each group included a
Catholic priest, a Protestant min
ister and a Jewish rabbi.
In Atlanta, the observance was
under the direction of a commit
tee which included the Very Rev.
Msgr. Joseph G. Cassidy, the Rev.
Wallace Rogers. Rabbi David
Marks, Dr. M. Ashby Jones. Wal
ter Rich and Hughes Spalding.
Speakers in Atlanta were Chap
lain Lawrence M. Brock, Chaplain
Ralph W. Rogers and Chaplain Jo
seph H. Freedmap.
Speakers on the Brotherhood
Week programs in Atlanta were
the Rev. Edward V. Cardinal, ot

Arthur E. Crowley, of the Walnut
Hills Baptist Church, Cincinnati,

J. Marion Adams, Lee Blum and
Hugh Kinchiey composed the lo
cal committee, and the trio of
speakers was composed of Chap

ning, a Franciscan priest of the
Order of Friars Minor Conventual,
from St. Hyacinth’s Seminary,

New Orleans, will be consecrator
of the Mo-i Rev. Charles P. Greco,
Bishop-elect of Alexandria, when
the former Vicar General of the
Archdiocese of New Orleans will
be consecreated on February 25 in
historic St. Louis Cathedral in
that city.
The ceremony will be the first
consecration to take place in St.
Louis Cathedral since 1918 when
Bishop Jules B. Jeanmard was
consecrated for the See of Lafay
ette and the late Bishop Arthur
Drossearte for the See of San An-
lanio. Bishop-elefct Greco served
as master of ceremony.
