THE BULLETIN OF THE CATHOLIC LAYMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF GEORGIA
APRIL 28, 1956.
MESSAGES FROM OUR CHAIRMEN
Rev. Gerard A. Moran, O.M.I.,
Pastor, St. Paul's Parish, Vice-
chairman Region II, Douglas:
Much has been said about the
needs of our diocese; not the
least of these is our need to train
young men for the priesthood.
It is this training that gives
lifeblood to the body of the
faithful. The history of the past
shows that, in the glorious epic
of Christianity in this area, the
faith has prospered in the places
where' priests Mve been avail
able and a tragic toll of souls
from Christ’s Kingdom has ex
acted in places that lacked
priestly ministration.
Rt. Rev. Msgr. T. James Mc
Namara, V. F., Pastor, Cathedral
of St. John the Baptist Parish,
Chairman Region 1, Savannah:
We have, in the Diocese of Sav-
annah-Atlanta Campaign Fund,
the method whereby we can
provide for the present needs of
Holy Mother Church and plan
for the future. It is a well organ
ized program that has been given
a great deal of prayerful consi
deration by our good Archbishop
and our good Bishop. They need
our help to bring this plan to a
successful completion; so it is
for each of us to pledge our com
plete cooperation in this . most
vital undertaking.
Rev. Carmine Benati, S.J.
Pastor, St. Joseph's Parish,
Chairman Region III, Macon:
I feel that every one concern
ed will enjoy this campaign.
There is a certain wholesome ex
uberance which arises in the
members of a group working to
gether in a common cause for
good. When our drive is com
pleted and our goal achieved, I
know we will enjoy the full
satisfaction of a job wejl done,
and will share in the pride of
our accomplishment.
Very Rev. Robert Brennan,
O.S.B., Pastor, Sacred Heart
Parish, Vice-chairman Region I,
Savannah:
We must always bear in mind
that it is the law of Holy Mother
Church that all Catholics con
tribute to the support of, the
Church and its institutions: Thus
it should be obvious that par
ticipation in this fund-raising
drive is a duty we all must wil
lingly discharge, and we should
look upon this campaign as a
Catholic Crusad^ rather than a
mere effort to raise money.
Rev. Thomas I. Sheehan, Pas
tor, St. Thomas More Parish,
Vice-chairman Region IV, De-
calor:
Our high schools in Atlanta
are overcrowded. With the great
growth of our city and the sur
rounding area, it is becoming in
creasingly evident that many of
our boys and girls will have to
forego a Catholic High School
education unless facilities are
expanded. The only answer to
more adequate high school faci
lities is the success of this edu
cational crusade.
Rav. Herman J. Deimel, Pas
tor, Holy Family Parish. Vice
Chairman, Region II:
We the faithful, enjoy many
blessings from our association
with the Holy Mother Church,
That is as it is intended and
should be, but we must not for
get the obligations we have to
aid in the further growth and
expansion of our faith.

The Bishop’s campaign for
parochial and diocesan develop
ment is a challenge to all of us,
priests and people of the Dio
cese of Savannah-Atlanta. The
needs of the Church in our dio
cese are the concern of the Bish
op, priests, and the people alike.
T : • are our common problem.
