Visitation Day Huge Success
By DEBBIE GODBEE
There has been an increase in the
number of freshman applicants for fall
quarter, but Doyle Bickers, Ad
missions Director says that he does
not expect a massive increase in W est
Georgia’s fall freshman enrollment.
He attributes the rising number
however, to the fact that students are
applying earlier this year, West
Georgia's improving academic reputa
tion, the football program, and the
lower tuition costs at West Georgia as
compared to larger institutions and
private colleges in the state.
In what Bickers described as “by
far the most successful Visitation Day
on the West Georgia College
campus,’’ an estimated 1500-1700
prospective students and their parents
toured the college and met with its
faculty, staff and students. Approxi

mately 800-1000 of these prospects
were high school seniors.
Enrolled students at West Georgia
conducted tours of the campus and its
facilities, while a welcome session
with President Maurice TownsentJ,
Vice President John Lewis, University
System Hegent Lamar Plunkett, and
Student Government Association Vice
President David Blackwell was also on
the agenda for the visitors.
Booths set up in the gym enabled
the prospective students to meet with
student leaders from clubs, publica
tions, Greek societies and other
organizations.
"I would like to thank all the
faculty, staff and especially the
students who participated in the
Visitation Day program. Without the
students we wouldn’t have been so
successful,” Bickers said.
One or more of these symptoms often occur immediately. However, others
may not develop until hours, weeks or sometimes even years following the
injury.
Many patients having these symptoms are
unaware or have forgotten about the acci
