Mision Numero Tres: Recibamos A1 Senor
POR: JOSE MONTERO
Es de pensar que aquella
debio de ser una de las
experiencias mas tristes y
desagradables de Jesus en su
campana misionera. Me
refiero al episodio de los
endemoniados de Gadara,
narrado por los tres
Evangelios sinopticos (Mat.
8,28-34; Me. 5,1-20; Lc.
8,26-39). Jesus expulsa a los
“espiritus malos” de aquellos
hombres, y, a peticion de los
mismos espiritus, les permite
entrar en una piara de
puercos, los cuales,
enloquecidos, “se arrojaron
por un barranco y cayeron al
lago donde se ahogaron”.
JDesde luego, el hecho no
dejaba de ser insolito. Sin
embargo, lo peor vino
despues. Los porqueros
llevaron la noticia al pueblo y
aquellos hombres, todos a
una, dice el Evangelio,
“salieron a donde estaba
Jesus y al verlo le rogaron que
se fuera de la tierra de ellos”.
Creo que sobra todo
comentario. Los de Gadara
cerraron las puertas a Cristo
que venia a traeries el bien,
por miedo a perder los
restantes puereos que les
quedaran! El caso es
extra-ordinariamente triste.
Vamos a pensar que, como en
muchas otras ocasiones,
aquellas gentes ignoraban
todo lo que perdian el echar
de sus tierras al Senor. Este
hecho es interesante porque
tal vez muchos de los que
actualmente cierren la puerta
a Cristo no puedan presentar
esta ignorancia como
atenuante.
Con alguna variante, esta
actitud de rechazo de Cristo
se repitio algunas veces mas,
hasta culminar con la
negacion escandalosa de todo
un pueblo que le cambio, no
solo por un Cesar de Roma,
sino por un vulgar asesino que
se llamaba Barrabas.
Es verdad que,
afortunadamente, no siempre
sucedio asi. Impulsados ya sea
por la pobreza, la necesidad,
las enfermedades o por una fe
curiosa e interesada, lo cierto
es que las muchedumbres
iban hacia aquel hombre
extraordinario, que a todos
consolaba y alimentaba, que
obraba maravillas y que tenia
palabras de vida etema. En
muchas ocasiones salieron a
su encuentro. Con frecuencia,
tambien, le abrieron sus
ciudades y las puertas de sus
casas, le sentaron a sus mesas
y compartieron con El su pan
y su vino, y la carga cotidiana
de sus gozos y sus lagrimas. Y
Jesus pasaba junto a todos,
tocandoles con su sonrisa,
curando y sanando,
perdonando y abriendo
horizontes de felicidad
inacabable a gentes hundidas
hasta entonces en el dolor
fisico o en las tinieblas de la
envidia y del odio, de la
codicia y del orgullo, del
miedo y de la esclavitud de la
came. Que testimonios de
alegria como resultado de este
abrir a Cristo nos han dejado
aquellos afortunados que se
llamaron Mateo, Magdalena,
Zaqueo, Nicodemos, y los
miles de anonimos como la
adultera y la samaritana del
pozo de Jacob!
Rechazo o aceptacion. He
aqui las dos actitudes que
encontramos en el Evangelio
frente a Jesus. Ambas, de
incalculables consecuencias
para nuestro bien o para
nuestro mal. Cristo sabia todo
esto, y por eso un dia
comparo su Palabra a una
semilla que cae en distintas
tierras y que da diferentes
frutos. Y en un esfuerzo de
acercamiento, nos hablo de
ciegos que no quieren ver y
de sordos que no quieren oir.
Y en su mirar sobre la
historia, como en una
perspectiva a larga distancia,
El contemplaba estas dos
actitudes repetidas a lo largo
de los siglos. Y cuando para
cumplir su mision redentora
hasta el fin de los tiempos,
instituye una Iglesia y elige
unos apostoles para que sean
El mismo prolongado entre
los hombres, les fortalece y
previene para que no se
acobarden, dando al mismo
tiempo a sus palabras el valor
de una solemne amonestacion
para todos nosotros.
La cita es un poco larga,
pero vale la pena recordarla,
pues como decia San Agustin:
“temo a Dios cunado pasa
con sus gracias por mi alma”,
y esta va a ser la tercera vez
que Cristo va a pasar en
mision apostolica por nuestra
comunidad de Atlanta. Dice
Cristo cuando envia a sus
discipulos a predicar: “Vayan
anunciando que el reino de
los cielos se ha
acercado ... Al entrar en una
casa, saluden deseando la paz.
Si la gente de la casa lo
merece, dejen con ellos este
saludo de paz; pero si no lo
merecen, retiren ese saludo. Y
si no les reciben ni les quieren
oir, entonces salgan de esa
casa o de ese pueblo y
sacudanse el polvo de los pies.
En verdad les digo que en el
dia del juicio, el castigo para
ese pueblo sera peor que para
la gente de los lugares de
Sodoma y Gomorra”. (Mt.
10, 12-15) Tampoco estas
palabras necesitan
comentario.
El hecho es que Cristo
viene a nosotros una vez mas,
en esta tercera mision, en la
persona de un apostol suyo.
Es El mismo, y es su misma
Palabra. Pienso que debemos
preguntamos seriamente cual
va a ser nuestra actitud como
pueblo y como individuos.
Tal vez nos suene duro, pero
esto sucedio una vez en el
Evangelio y ha seguido
repitiendose en la historia. No
seria tristisimo que ante esta
nueva venida del Senor nos
hicieramos los sordos, o le
cerraramos las puertas, o,
incluso, le dijeramos que se
fuera por miedo a perder los
muchos o pocos puercos que
nos puedan quedar? Claro
que nosotros no tenemos
puercos. Pero dejemos la
metafora y pensemos en esas
cosas reales que sabemos son
incompatibles con una
autentica vida cristiana y de
las que tal vez no nos interese
desprendemos. Esos son en
realidad nuestros puercos. No
seria una pena que por
conservar esas miserias
cerraramos las puertas a
Cristo?
Inclinemos la balanza hacia
el otro lado, hacia la
aceptacion y el recibimiento
regocljado de Cristo en la
visita de su enviado, el Padre
Misionero. Es la otra vertiente
del Evangelio, la de las bellas
experiencias de paz y de
sosiego interior de que nos
hablan sus paginas. Dejemos
que se ahoguen todas nuestras
miserias en el lago del perdon
del Senor, ya que El viene
para eso y para llenar de paz
y de amor nuestras vidas.
Y no olvidemos que la
gracia del recibimiento de
Cristo debe ser compartida.
Hay que estimular a otros a
que la reciban, a que vengan
con nosotros a su encuentro.
Debemos hacemos eco de la
Mision para que seamos de las
gentes a quienes el misionero
deje la paz, esa paz que Cristo
trajo a la tierra y que sera la
mejor garantia y fuerza para
nuestro crecimiento
comunitario en Cristo, como
individuos y como pueblo
que camina hacia la casa del
Padre.
