Daughters of Zion
Win Judean Honor
The Daughters of Zion, a local
club in the National Young Ju¬
daeans movement sponsored by Jr.
Hadassah, walked away with most
of the awards at the southern
region’s annual encampment held
in June at Camp Blue Star, Sautee,
Georgia. In competition with clubs
from five states, this is the record
the local chapter made:
They received a gold placque
for the year 1948-49 as the out¬
standing chapter in the region.
For the second year in a row,
won a beautiful silver cup for
excellence in choral singing. If
the DOZ win this award next
year for the third time, they will
retain the cup permanently.
Greta Rosenzweig won the
ping-pong tournament.
Margie Cooper came in second
in the extemporaneous speaking
contest.
The chapter came in second in
the scrapbook contest.
Lee Movsovitz, president of the
chapter last year, was chosen the
outstanding girl Judaean in the
legion and was elected vice presi¬
dent of the region.
At the national convention held
i" P’.tsburgh this month, Lee was
also elected national vice-presi¬
dent.
Savannah can well be proud of
this outstanding group of girls.
A special accolade should also be
given to their advisor, Mrs. Her¬
bert Blumenthal, for her fine
leadership.
