someone through cor

the integral part of my "self” that
is in need of another human

Please allow me to thank you
in advance for your time and
consideration in this matter.

It has been brought to our
attention that some of the
students in the Atlanta University

Dear Mr. Fudge:
I wish to congratulate you and
your-staff on the publication of
the March 25,1982 edition of the
WOLVERINE OBSERVER. The
entire paper ... layout, articles,
appearance, etc. is represen
tative of what college students,
especially Morris Brown College
students, should produce.
I enjoyed reading the paper
and hope that this one will be
used as a guide for future
publications.
Sincerely yours,
(Mrs.) I. B. Jones

Yes, We Do Have
A Swim Team
With no money to be
recognized as an official entry in
the NCAA, the Morris Brown
College swim team is having
their toll of problems this year. If
the team had enough money to
cover just two road trips they
would have been in the SIAC
championship swim meets.
Coach Edward K. Weaver,
Instructor of the Health, Physical
Education and Recreation
Department, indicated that
Florida A & M and Alabama A &
M were the only SIAC schools
who had a swimming team with
money to travel.
Weaver explains that what the
Morris Brown swim team needs
is scholarships for its swimmers
in order to attract the top notch
swimmers, which will increase
the school’s enrollment and
result in more revenue in the
form of tuition for the school.
He suggested the possibility of
having the swimmers work as
work - study students in
recreational swimming. This
would allow the students access
to the pool on a regular basis
during the spring and summer.
Weaver hopes that Morris
Brown will provide the team with
enough money to cover hotel
and transportation expenses to
the National Black swim meet at
Tennessee State University.
The First Annual Black Swim
meet was at Morris Brown and
the swimmers placed well
against Florida A & M and
Alabama A & M.
The swim team boasts as its
members the incredible
“Speedy” Hawkins, Ferrell, Carl
Gamble and Wanda Bennet.
Photo Display Taken
by Valerie Lackey
The Observer staff and Editor
is highly disturbed over
someone taking advantage of
their kindness.
In an all - out effort to provide
photos for the Drama Club
curing their 3 - day run of the
plays, “Happy Ending,” and
“Day of Absence,” the
Wolverine Observer staff was
shocked to find that after 2 days
of display 14 5x7”-photos had
been stolen from the entrance of
Fountain Hall.
It appears that after the last
performance on Saturday night,
April 3, the display became miss
ing.
"Why would anyone want the
pictures?” commented Anita
Thomas, play director. “That was
really dumb.”
“I think it’s a shame that
students who call themselveds
mature students cannot carry
themselves in that manner. It's a
disgrace for students to act like a
bunch of immature students,”
said Anthony Thompson, who
portrayed the Mayor in the play
“Day of Absence,” and member
of the Morris Brown Players.
The staff asks that if you know
anything of the whereabouts of
the display please call 525-7831
ext. 308 Mon.-Fri. from 1 p.m. to
4 p.m.
