ATLANTA BARB-Page 8
Building Better Bodies
By Ray Martin
Dear Ray,
I live in a small apart
ment and I have no room
for barbells, but I do
have a set of dumbells.
What exercises can I do
with these to develop my
chest?
Jerry
Atlanta, Ga.
Dear Jerry,
One of the best chest
developers using dum
bells is doing lateral
raises on a bench.
Assume a supine position
on a bench (or on the floor)
with dumbells in each
hand at chest level.
.Exhale as the dumbells
are pressed overhead
above the chest until your
arms are completely ex
tended. The dumbells are
now in position to begin.
Keeping your arms ex
tended, lower the dum
bells to each side until
parallel to the floor. Re
turn to the starting posi
tion and repeat for about
ten repetitions of three
sets.
Dear Ray,
I try to workout, but
my main problem is that
I stay so tired that I
often skip my workouts
and so I don’t get very
good results. What vita
mins do you recommend
for increasing my
energy?
G.E.R.
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Dear G.E.R.,
Assuming that your
problem isn’t physical or
the result of not getting
enough sleep, you can in
crease your energy with
a number of products. One
of the most popular is
ENERGOL sold at most
health food stores. It is
a blend of vitamins and
germ oils and is sold
in liquid or capsular
form. If this does not
bring results, perhaps
you should have a phy
sical examination. Also
you can take all the vi
tamins B,C, and E that
you want because excess
is eliminated by the body.
Be careful of too much
A and D because excesses
can accumulate in the
tissues.

Reader's Poll On Marijuana
Dr. Heath, and other

MANAGING
YOUR MONEY
FACTS TO HELP YOU
Invest For The Long Term
All of-us would like to
make a killing in the stock
market. But the record shows
that most investors in individ
ual stocks will lose trying.
If you want to have more
money in the future than
you have today, there are re
latively low-risk alternatives
to traditional methods of sav
ing at fixed interest rates.
One alternative is through
accumulation of capital.
Investing successfully in
slocks is becoming increasing
ly difficult. Collecting and
analyzing ail the available in
formation about a company
and its securities is an over
whelming task for most part-
time investors. When you in
vest in a mutual fund, along
with many other investors
who have common objec
tives, you obtain the talents
and resources of professional
money managers.
"Times Begone”
by Carl William Herzig
Once so long days of youth,
They are gone all too soon,
Becoming a man a boy matures,
To secretly wish for youth again.
Gone are years of springtime fun,
Your manhood was at twenty-one,
Now your endeavor is work,
You are the youngest of society,
Before as today
There is little in store for youth,
For soon is he considered a man.
Such folly and nonsense,
Wasting the sweet youth we once knew,
This depriving a boy of his Joy ,
In growing up as a boy.
Sacrificed years in society’s plan,
Rushing a boy off to become a man,
Progress it appears our ultimate goal,
Is to create a man of twelve-years old.

“A mutual fund is about
the only investment vehicle,
open to the ordinary investor,
that provides built-in research
and proven, full-time money
management expertise,” says
George Putnam, Chairman of
the Putnam Mutual Funds of
Boston.
Mutual fund companies,
and the investment communi
ty as a whole, agree that
investing in mutual funds
should be a long-range com
mitment, and that it should
never be entered into as a
speculation.
While past results are no
indication of future perform
ance, the record shows that
the average mutual fund, over
all 19 ten-year periods since
World War II, had an annual
compound growth rate of
slightly more than 10 percent,
assuming reinvestment of divi
dends and capital gains.
