A wedding of note recently was the
first Temple wedding of Miss Dorothy
Mae Selig, only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Simon Samson Selig, became the
bride of Lyons Barnette Joel, II, son
of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Joel, at a bril
liant ceremony, which was celebrated
with churchly dignity, and marked
the first marriage to be solemnized
in the handsome new Temple, recently
erected on Peachtree street. Rabbi
David Marx performed the ceremony
in the presence of a fashionable as
semblage of relatives and friends,
and t/he ceremony united representa
tives of distinguished Georgia fami
lies.
The altar was banked with stately
palms, and ten pedestal wicker bas
kets were filled with yellow roses, and
yellow gladioli were combined with
yellow lilies, while tall rose trees,
aglow with yellow blossoms, flanked
either side of the altar, and four
electric candelabra, featuring some
100 tiny lights, added an effective
note to the background of the altar.
The marble slab in front of the altar
was bordered in yellow roses, and the
doors and arches were draped with
sniilax, and garlands of smilax en-
twined the marble columns. The steps
leading to the altar were ornamented
with white aisle posts and Cathedral
candlesticks, which were decorated
with satin ribbon. Clusters of yellow
flowers, combined with maidenhair
fern, were placed on alternating pews,
and the bouquets were tied with satin
ribbon to harmonize with the color
motif of yellow and green.
