LOOKING FORWARD
Bob Reidt. prophet of Rockville
Center, N. Y.. forecasts trouble for
Adolf Hitler In January, especially
on the 21st ... As for Washington’s
birthday—in the words of the pro
phet, "what a day for him I” , . .
Seer Reidt goes on to explain that
the Reichsfuehrer’s "friends, advis
ers who know him intimately will
be at the height of their effort
to ruin him . . The new “purge”
now going on in Naziland and the
"very g»ave events" said to be
scheduled for the latter part of Jan
uary. after the Saar plebiscite,
would seem to indicate that Mr.
Reidt is not far wrong . . . Turning
from the future to the past, we
may be permitted to wonder wheth
er Addled Adolf, whom his press
bureau now describes as ” the man
who with a kiss awakened the sleep
ing soul of the German nation,”
remembers that one of the first
American writers to interview him
in the old Munich days—when he
had only house-paint with which
to tint the town red—was Isaac
Marcossom . . .
NAZI NOTES
There’s a story behind the Union
City, N. J„ Injunction restraining
the police and mayor from forbid
ding Nazi meetings . . . Originally
the city officials had forbidden the
meetings because of complaints re
ceived from various people, includ
ing some Jews . . . But when the
case was brought into court not
a single witness—not even a single
Jew—could be rounded up to testi
fy against the Nazis, so that Vice
Chancellor Fielder, himself deeply
opposed to all anti-Semitic agita
tion, could not help granting the
pro-Nazi injunction . . . Those of
you who want to know whether
Germany is a good place to vis
it right now are referred to Miss
Isobel Steele, the American girl who
now Is home at last after some
months in a Nazi Jail .. , But don’t
ask German Jews—they have no
American consul behind them . . .
Nazi Education Minister Rust, in
cidentally, reveals that of the 102,-
007 students attending German uni
versities only sixteen are Jews . . .
An odd tale Is that of Mrs. Alfred
8. Meyer, German girl who recent
ly married an American Jew and
now is divorced because the young
man’s family was furious at his mar
riage to a German . . . W. W. de
clares that it was F. D. R. himself
who thwarted that arrangement
whereby American cotton would
have been bartered for German-
made goods
against Columbia Pictures, from
whom he was asking heavy dam
ages because he was called a bull-
thrower in a Columbia release . . .
Until the smart Columbia lawyer
unearthed an ancient newsreel in
which Sid himself referred to his
practice in “throwing the bull” . . .

INTERESTING AND TRUE
The National Educational Associ
ation, professors at Columbia,
Teachers College, N. Y. U. and the
Union Theological Seminary, the
American League Against War and
Fascism and Mr. J. David Stem’s
New York Post are all urging the
McCormack-Dickstetn Congressional
Committee on Un-American Activi
ties to investigate the case of Mr.
William Randolph Hearst . . . And
this almost Immediately after Ben
jamin DeCasseres, the author who
is a collateral descendant of Ba
ruch Spinoza, has joined Mr.
Hearst’s staff of writers of virulent,
ly anti-Communistic editorials . . .
It is Fascism with which the august
bodies mentioned above are charg
ing Mr. Hearst . . . But for your
information let us divulge that Mr.
DeCasseres’ Cato-Did-It siogan "De-
lenda est Germania" has now been
amended to read “A bas Commufac-
ism” . . . Rex Tremlett, editor of
the British Fascist organ Black
Shirt, assures us that the Sir Os
wald Mosley brand of Fascism does
not include anti-Semitism or racial
discrimination. . . . And who are we
to doubt the word of an English
gentleman? . . . Paul Robeson, dus
ky singer and actor, thinks the po
sition of negroes in the U. S. is com
parable to that of the Jews in Ger
many ... A parallel which, if we
are not mistaken, has been drawn
before, by one Dolly Hitler . . .
