The many friends of Mrs. Sol
O. Klotz will be happy to hear
that she is recuperating at home
after a recent operation.
Dr. Nathan Sugarman, profes
sor of Chemical Engineering at
Georgia Tech and research pro
fessor in the Engineering Experi
ment Station, will join the North
American Rayon Corp. in Eliza-
bethton, Tenn., as a special
scientist in the viscose research
department.
After a five year stay, Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar Siegel, have returned
from Oxnard, Calf., to Jackson
ville, Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Herman,
with their son Michael, of Brook
lyn, are visiting their brother,
Artie Robbins and Mrs. Robbins
of Atlanta.
Melvin Kaset of Chattanooga
has graduated from the University
of Miami, with a degree in bus
iness administration. A gradu
ate of Chatanooga High, Kaset
majored in accounting.

Hadassah Fashion show from
Israel.
Designed and executed by the
dressmaking students of Hndas-
sah’s Alice L. Seligsberg Voca
tional High School in Jerusalem,
the garments were inspired by
centuries-old costumes brought
to Israel by Jewish immigrants
from Arab and Oriental lands.

Oriental motifs in a modern set
ting — literally a wedding of old
and new — are of particular in-
trest to American audiences in
light of the current Eastern in
fluence in women’s fashions.
Models will be the members
from the Atlanta Chapter of
Hadassah at 2:30 p.m: Mesdames

Models in the evening group will
be announced at a later date.
Mrs. David Levin, president of
the Atlanta Chapter of Hadassah,
is very enthusiastic and excited
that the fashion show has been
scheduled to appear in Atlanta.
The Atlanta delegation who at
tended the national Hadassah
convention In October in Chi
cago and were able to view the
show, have all agreed it is one
of the most beautiful fashion
shows to tour the country. This
will give the Atlanta community
an opportunity to see the beau
tiful needlework and embroidery
of the students at Hadassah’s vo
cational school.
A highlight of the show, accord
ing to Mrs. Levin, will be full
color kodachromes showing class
es at work in the Seligsberg
School. Kodachromes of the Or
iental origins upon which most
of the fashions are based will be
seen. The originals, part of the
Seligsberg School’s “Old Cos
tume” museum, contain garments
from Yemen, Turkistan, Persia,
Bucharia and Turkey.

entine Birthday Party honoring
birthdays of the residents.
Ice cream and a large birthday
cake were served the guests.
The program was presented by
Mrs. Ben Stegall, music; Ernie
Lang, pantominist; Toipmie
Moore; Mrs. Baron Asher re
citing two original poems, “Love’s
Regret” and “Laura” from her
book, “This Journey.”
Macon Brotherhood
Week Observance
MACON—Dr. deWitt Matthews,
pastor of Vineville Baptist
Church, will occupy the pulpit
of the Temple on February 18 as
a part of Brotherhood Month
celebration.
Children of the Fourth, Fifth,
Sixth and Seventh Grades will
observe Brotherhood Sunday,
Fqja. 19 with an interchange with
the same classes in First Christ
ian Church. This is the second
year of this experiment, directed
by Rabbi Friedman and the Rev.
Earnest Thompson. Both are co-
chairmen of the National Con
ference of Christians and Jews.

Agency to move a minimum of
forty-five thousand Jews to Is
rael this year. Among them will
be hundreds of children and
youth, all from traditional back
grounds for whom Mizrachi
Women hope to provide facilities
in keeping with their Jewish
faith. We must expand to the
utmost to prepare maximum
places for these Moroccan chil
dren.

long-time leader in the Jewish
community here, has been elected
president of the Jewish Welfare
Federation.
He succeeds Dr. Harold
Schwartz.

South Carolina B’nai B’rith
Association to Meet Mar. 10-11
The nineteenth annual conven
tion of the South Carolina As
sociation of B’nai B’rith Lodges
will be held at Walterboro, S.C.,
on March 10 and 11 with Bernard
Warshaw of that city as con
vention chairman.
As an added incentive to at
tend, the convention committee
has announced that the National
Sports Car Races are to be held
in Walterboro on Saturday, March
10. B’nai B’rith events include a
cocktail party, an afternoon tea
for the ladies, a luncheon and a
banquet.
A cimpaign to raise funds for
a new Sunday School building
for the House of Peace Synagogue
has gotten underway with Aaron
Berry as committee chairman. Mr.
Berry has announced that unless
a minimum of $15,000 is raised
on this drive, the construction of
the Sunday School building will
have to be postponed indefinitely.
The Lena Karesh chapter of
B’nai B’rith Girls held its annual
Valentine’s Dance last Saturday
evening in the House of Peace
Social Hall. Bill Cutler and the
Kenny Morris Quartet provided
the music.
Members of the dance com
mute were Loretta Berry and
Barbara Bank, dance chairmen;
Thelma Golin and Helen Laden,
decorations chairmen; and Marsha

Children of the Sunday School
will conduct the services under
the guidance of the rabbi, who
will speak on: “Saving our Chil
dren for Religion.”

22, the J. Bush Dodge No. 1282,
will conduct its annual Pre-Pu-
rim celebration at the Stem Com

the hostesses serving delicious
refreshments.

24th the Temple will celebrate
Brotherhood Sabbath. Dr. How
ard P. Gidden, Pastor of the
First Baptist Church will be the
Guest Preacher. Rabbi Spear con
ducting the service.
Rabbi Spear has been elepted
by the Athens Ministerial Associ
ation to be the religious reporter,
broadcasting on a local, state,
county and world wide level.

Abe Brooks, veteran treasurer
of the Congegation, is spending

in Miami for a two-week vaca

show with a continental flavor,
will be presented to a wide Col
umbia audience by B’nai B’rith
Women on Sunday, February 19,
in the ballroom at Hester's Bam
boo House.
A U. S. Savings Bond will be
given away every hour on the
hour to the lucky ticket holders
who attend. Food and drink will
be served and Monte Carlo, danc
ing and a general all-round good
time has been planned to follow
the variety show.
In charge of the show is Mrs.
David Omens assisted by Joe
Winter with the lighting. The
show committee is headed by
Mrs. Hy Rothberg and has as
members: Mrs. Aaron Berry, Mrs.
Maynard Neider,, Mrs. Fay Rose-
man, Mrs. Milton Geller, Mrs.
Beth Behalis, and Mrs. Jerry
Nadel, assisted in art work by
Bemie Levine and Ted Solomon.
Mrs. Moe Levy and Mrs.
Aaron Berry are in charge of
the food which will be available,
assisted by Benedict Lowenthal
and Manny Shensky. Frank Har
ris and Mrs. Hed Solomon are
in charge of publicity and Mrs.
Louis Berry and Mrs. Aaron
Berry’ are heading the ticket
committee.

teers honored at the 15th anni
versary celebration of the Col
umbia U.S.O. - the serviceman’s
‘home away from home.’
Henry Marcus, wrestling match
promoter at the Township Audi
torium, was recognized for his
gifts of free tickets to servicemen.
Sam “Shimmy” Bloom, owner of
Shimmy’s Restaurant, was hon
ored for his donations of free
steaks as prizes for the USO
Blind Date Show.
Mrs. Max Revelise, who for
many years has spent every Sun
day evening playing the piano
at the U.S.O., and Mrs. David
Omens, who has taught dancing
at weekly classes, were also hon
ored.
The TWIGS held their annual
panel discussion on January 17
with the following results: Lynn
Fleischman, second; Barbara La-
pidus, third.
