Federation Officials Announce Top Campaign Leaders
Abe Goldatain, president, At
lanta Jewish Welfare Federation
and Milton Weinstein,, vice pres
ident in charge of the Federa
tions Department of Campaign
and Allocations, announced the
appointment of Dr. Marvin G.
Goldstein as honorary chairman
Of the 1969 Community-wide
Federation drive.
As reported in an earlier issue
of The Southern Israelite, Meyer
Balser and David Goldwasser
were named to head the 1969
campaign. Mr. Weinstein stated
that Dr. Goldstein’s exemplary
leadership of both the 1967 and
1968 campaigns warranted this
position.
Dr. Goldstein is to be honored
together with the leadership of
the 1968 campaign at a commun
ity-wide celebration on Wednes
day evening, December 4th.
Mr. Weinstein, who has served
at the helm of the Federation’s
newly farmed Department of
Campaign and Allocations, since
its inception, has been associated
with the Federation drive and its
predecessor, the Welfare Fund
Campaign, for many years. He
has served in every prominent
position in past campaigns and
was elected General Chairman of
the 1961 drive. During the emer
gency in 1967, Mr. Weinstein, to
gether with Sidney Feldman,
spearheaded Atlanta’s successful
Israel Emergency Fund Cam
paign. Again in 1968 Mr. Wein
stein was called upon to oo-chair
the second Israel Emergency
Fund Campaign to meet the crit
ical needs of Israel. Weinstein
served as president of the At
lanta Jewish Community Center
in 1965 to 1967. He is a member
of the cabinet of the National
United Jewish Appeal. He is
president of National Service
Industries and a leader in the
Atlanta business community.

lanta, is a graduate of Emory
University School of Dentistry,
and subsequently did post-grad
uate work in orthodontics at the
Universities of Michigan, Colum
bia, Detroit, and Northwestern.
He is a pest president of the
Fifth District Dental Society of
Atlanta and has served for over
twenty years as Chief of Ortho
dontics of the Ben Massell Den
tal Clinic, an agency operated by
the Jewish Welfare Federation.

lege of Dentists.
He is a past oommander of the

Veterans, and past president, At
lanta Lodge B’nai B’rith, and is
past vice chairman of USO of
Atlanta. Currently he is serving
on the board of the Jewish Wel

Ahavath Achim Synagogue, and

the Armed Services Division of
the Southern Section of the Na

ect HOPE.
President Goldstein stated that
“appointment of the Balser and
Goldwasser team provides the
community with two very speaial
men who are both dedicated to
the service of their community
and the betterment of their fel
low man. Everyone with whom
Meyer and Dave come in contact
have the confidence of the many
men and women who make the
difference between a campaign
and a successful campaign. Both
men combine the traits of experi
ence, intelligence, and under
standing with a strong desire to
meet the community's needs.”
With the sincere directness for
which both chairmen have earn
ed the respect of the ootnnkun-
ity, Balser and Goldwasser ac
knowledged the appointment with
appreciation for the confidence
placed in them and gave the fol
lowing statement:
“We know that this is a real
Job. It will be even more de
manding in the coming campaign
because the need for funds, both
in Israel and here at home, has
become so much more crucial
than ever.
“More will be asked of all of

us—more time, more work, more
money, because Jewish men and
women are faced with difficulties
today of the kind that make our
support a matter of survival. As
we know from the difficulties of
this past year, Israel Must Con
tinue To Lave!
* “We also know the members
of this community, and we’re
sure that together we will be able
to do what has to be done, and
do it in a way that will make
all those who depend on us un
derstand that we oare. Because
that is the truth: we do care.”
