Fashion Show
The Peachtree Chapter of
Women’s American ORT will
hold its annual Fashion Show,
Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 8:00 p.m.
at the Atlanta Jewish Commun
ity Center. Miss Maizie Hale,
fashion co-ordinator of Sears,
will be the guest commentator.
The fashions for this program
are of the 16-, 17-, and 18-year
old students from the ORT vo
cational schools in France, Iran,
Morocco, and Tunesia.
The clothes will be accessorized
by Sears Roebuck and Company.
Modeling for the program will
be mesdames: Richard Alterman,
David Franco, Ned Franco, Ger
ald Friedman, Russe’l Harris,
Robert Miller, Ronald Pollock,
Miss Joy Pollock.

CHINESE
AUCTION
A Chinese Auction will be held
by the North Atlanta Chapter of
Women’s American ORT on
November 19 from 10 a.m. until
3 p.m. at the AJCC.
Mrs. Rhoda Roth, chairman,
has announced that there will
be a bake sale and boutique
tables in addition to the myriad
of brand-new, beautiful items
that will be auctioned off, Chinese
style, all day.
The public is invited to attend.
SE Zionists
Parley Set For
Birmingham
The Regional Conference of
the Southeast Region of the
Zionist Organization of America
will be held in Birmingham De
cember 6, 7 and 8, it was dis
closed by Rabbi David Shapiro,
president.
Chairman of the conference,
Birmingham attorney Harvey
M. Burg disclosed that more than
two hundred delegates are ex
pected from the seven states of
the Region.
The Parliament House, said
Mr. Burg, will house delegates
from Alabama, Florida, the Car-
olinas, Georgia, Mississippi and
Tennessee.
AJCC Young Couples
Club Meets Nov. 17
The Young Couples Club of the
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter will meet at 7:30 p.m., Sun
day, Nov. 17, at the AJCC.

“The Challenges and Hardships
of Young Couples in Israel.”

Temple Singles’
Thanksgiving Dinner
The Temple Singles organiza
tion is planning a Thanksgiving
Dinner at 8:00 p.m., Saturday,
Nov. 23, at the Temple.
Cost for members is $1.75 and
for guests, $2.75.
A champagne punch bowl will
be provided, as well as music for
dancing.

The National Council of Jew
ish Women, Atlanta Section, will
hold an open Thrift Shop meet
ing at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov.
18, at the home of Mrs. Louis

Mrs. Edwin Oppenheim, im
mediate past president of the
Greater Miami Section, NCJW,
will speak on the role of the
thrift shop as a fund-raiser, a
community service and a gratify
ing job for the volunteer.

Fete for Menuhins
The famed violinist, Yehudi
Menuhin, and his equally famous
sister, Hephzibah Menuhin will
be honored at an After Concert
Party by Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Z. Borochoff. The two will appear
on the All-Star Concert Series at
the Civic Center Auditorium,
Saturday, Nov. 16, sponsored by
the Atlanta Music Club. Mrs.
Yehudi Menuhin will accompany
her husband to Atlanta and to
the party.
Honorary hostesses will be
Mrs. Myles J. Gould, Miss Toby
Borochoff and Miss Jean Boro
choff. Wm. Weaver, president of
the Atlanta Music Club, Mr. and
Mrs. J. L. Friedman, manager of

‘Texas Pioneer’
Nov. 17 on WSB
“Texas Pioneer,” the second in
a series of Eternal Light pro
grams on the theme of “Man in
Protest” will be heard Sunday,
Nov. 17, at 10:30 p.m., on WSB
Radio.
Written by Marc Siegal, the
drama concerns Henry Castro, a
pioneering French Jew, who at
tempts to establish a free and
self-sufficient community for
poor French farmers in West
Texas. The speaker at the close
of the program will be Rabbi
William Melev, spiritual leader
of Congregation Beth Yeshurun
in Houston, Texas.
The Eternal Light, recent
recipient of a second Peabody
Award, is a presentation of the
Jewish Theological Seminary of
America, and is broadcast each
week by the NBC Radio Net
work and WSB Radio.

For AA ‘Mr. & Mrs.’
After a very successful “Get
Acquainted” affair, the Ahavath
Achim Mr. & Mrs. Club is ready
to kick off the new year with an
“Opening Dinner Dance Meeting,”
on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 8:00 p.m.
in Sirochi Hall. Charge is $7.50
per couple.

JANUS IS FORUM
SPEAKER SUNDAY
Dr. Sidney Q. ' Janus, well
known community leader and
past president of the Atlanta
Zionist District, will address the
regular Ahavath Achim Sunday
Forum on Nov. 17, at 11:00 a. m.
His topic will be “Israel and the
Middle East.”
“Dr. Janus, who has only re
cently returned from a trip to
Israel where he and his wife,
Leah, visited with their children,
will have a wealth of first hand
information on life in the coun
try under present unsettled con
dition,” commented Robert M.
Travis, chairman of the Forum.
“He also gained much insight into
the complex political questions
that have a bearing on prospects
for eventual peace. We expect a
record attendance.”
