Soviets attack Judaism
NEW YORK—Strong criticism of the Jewish religion, including
an assertion that it spreads malice and hypocrisy, appeared in a
Soviet newspaper which reached the West recently.
The attack on Judaism, unusual for the Soviet press, was in
“Sovetskaya Byelorussia,” official organ of the Byelorussian
Republic’s Communist Party and government. Normally Soviet
commentators are careful to restrict condemnation to Zionism,
which is used here to mean Israeli policy. The criticism was
contained in a review of the book, “Invasion Without Arms,”
written by Byelorussian author V. Begun and published last year.
The newspaper said that “the author convincingly proves the
striking similarity of Jewish dogma and Zionist concepts,
particularly the myth about the Jewish being chosen by God, the
basis on which Zionist leaders proclaim the intellectual superiority
of Jews...(and) advance claims to world domination.”
