Pioneer Women meeting
Pioneer Worsen Club 1 will hold
its Tu B’Shevat luncheon at noon
Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Jewish
Tower, 3160 Howell Mill Road.
Gideon Graff, Israel emissary
and member of the southeast
region of the Jewish National
Fund, will be the speaker. His
subject, “Pioneer Women’s
Tzalmon Project; Access To
Tomorrow," will include films on
“The Tzalmon Project," and the
“Galilee of Pioneer Women,"
which he recently brought from
Israel.
All members are asked to bring
their Blue Boxes. Sponsor for the
luncheon is Mrs. Bessie Wilder.

Bat Ami will host
Yehud native, Sorig
Bat Ami Hadassah will hold its
general meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 23, at the Sears Buckhead
Store’s Garden Room.
The speaker will be Yechiel
Sortg, shaliach and native of
Yehud, Israel, Atlanta’s sister city.
Sorig, in Atlanta under the
sponsorship of the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center and the
Atlanta Federation, will speak on
the relationship between Yehud
and Atlanta. A film will be shown.
Members are asked to get their
Blue Boxes filled for the
forthcoming JNF kick-off.
Members and guests are invited to
attend the meeting. Door prizes
will be awarded and refreshments
will be served.
A.A. youth groups
plan future events
Chai USY, for students in
grades nine through 12, will attend
the Atlanta Hawks vs. the Los
Angeles Lakers on Saturday, Jan.
15, at the Omni.
The students will meet in the
lower parking lot of Ahavath
Achim Synagogue at 7 p. m. to take
a bus to the Omni.
Only a limited number of tickets
have been purchased. Call Brian
Glusman, 355-1633, to reserve a
seat. Cost for the evening is $6
which includes the ticket and
transportation.
Ahavath Achim’s Kadima
group will have a program at 12:30
p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, for students
in grades six through eight.

Formation meeting to be
held for Tay Sachs Chapter
There will be a meeting to
discuss the necessity for forming a
local Tay Sachs chapter to serve
the Atlanta area.
Mrs. Jayne Mackta, past
national president and present vice
president for chapter development,
will be in attendance.
The meeting will take place at
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the
home of Louise Adelstone, 4107
Shawnee Lane, Atlanta.

Aviva Hadassah plans two
events for the month of January.
The Day Study Group will meet
at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at the
Hillel House, 1531 Clifton Road.
Rabbi Daniel R Allen, executive
director of Atlanta Hillel, will
speak and will also lead the group
on a tour of the home, where
college students congregate. Rabbi
Allen’s topic for the day will be
Israel and Jewish students.
The second event will be the
annual Night Study Group which
will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan.
N. Suburban ORT plans
Tasters’ Luncheon
The North Suburban Chapter of
Women’s American ORT will hold
a Tasters’ Luncheon at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Willow
Creek Apartments Clubhouse, 550
Abernathy Road, Sandy Springs
(next to North Fulton Tennis
Center).
The luncheon is being held to
benefit the ORT School of
Engineering in Jerusalem.
Reservations can be made by
Jan. 18. There will be a S5 charge
by reservation and a $6 charge at
the door Reservations are being
handled by Bonnie Beerman and
Judy Fenster.
Mizrachi, Atlanta
Chapter to meet Jan. 17
The Atlanta Chapter, American
Mizrachi Women, will hold its
next meeting at 2 p.m. Monday,
Jan. 17, at the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center, 1745
Peachtree Road, in the Teen
Lounge.
A musical program will be
presented by Harold "Mike”
Lainoff, assistant executive
director at the AJCC.
All members are asked to bring
their Orange Boxes to the meeting.
Mrs. Lillian Liberman, Orange
Box chairwoman, will have extra
boxes available. Anyone needing
an Orange Box, call Lillian,

the meeting.
Tri-County chapter to hold
‘Ort Shabbat’ on Jan. 14
The Tri-County Chapter of
Women’s American ORT will hold
its ORT Shabbat at 8 p.m. Friday,
Jan. 14, at Temple Emanu-EI.

Two new groups formed
at Jewish Home
Two new groups have been
formed at the Jewish Home for the
residents.
A music memory group and a
Jewish humor group will meet
every Tuesday, led by volunteer
social worker, Nancy Knseman.
Records by Jewish comedians
from 1920 to the 1950s are needed
to help make the groups successful.

Trigor. Mr. Trigor’s topic will

Perimeter ORT cooks up
Super Bagel Sunday
Perimeter ORT is sponsoring
Super Bagel Sunday on Jan. 30.
The cost is $12 and includes
juice, six bagels, six ounces of lox,
cream cheese, tomato and onion,
and many other surprises.

Susan Asher at meeting
Lenox ORT will have its next
meeting at noon Tuesday, Jan 18,
at the Western Sizzlin’, 3172
Roswell Road.
Susan Asher will be the speaker.
She will discuss how newscasts are
compiled and how television
viewers can respond to attitudes
presented to the public.

to sponsor study group
Tikvah/Aliyah Hadassah will
hold a study group at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the home of
Joan Kahn, 4246 Dykes Drive.
Mrs. Phyllis R. Levine, M.A.,
will speak on “Relationships
Across the Generations (The
Middle Generation)." Mrs. Levine
is a social worker with the Jewish
Family Services, Inc.

Hebrew classes available
for Riverdale residents
Congregation B’nai Israel, in
cooperation with the Atlanta**
Bureau of Jewish Education, will
be offering a beginning Hebrew
reading course for those residents
living in the Riverdale area.
Classes will begin on Thursday,
Jan. 27, and continue for eight
consecutive weeks. The class will
be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the
Christ Our Hope Lutheran
Church, 2465 Highway 138 in
Riverdale. Tuition is $35, with
checks payable to the Atlanta
Bureau of Jewish Education.

The Bat Shalom Chapter of
Hadassah will hold its education
