Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Levy Buchs
baum of Savannah announce the
engagement of their daughter, Lau
ren Gail, to Jeffrey Eric Malks, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua B. Malks
of Baltimore.
The wedding is planned for March
24 at Agudath Achim Synagogue
in Savannah.
Miss Buchsbaum is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Rosenbaum of Atlanta and of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Buchs
baum of Savannah. She received a
Lauren Buchsbaum.
bachelor of arts degree in Ameri
can studies from Brandeis Univer
sity.
Mr. Malks is the grandson of
Mrs. Yetta Gabel and the late Jo
seph Brandt of Brooklyn, N.Y.,
and of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Malks
of The Bronx, N.Y. He received a
bachelor of arts degree in Ameri
can studies from Brandeis Univer
sity, and currently attends Wash
ington University Graduate School
of Architecture in St. Louis.
Haas-Sutton
Retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. Stan
ley Haas announce the engagement
of their daughter, Melinda, to Ste
ven G. Sutton, son of Mrs. Mar
garet Shull and Kenneth Sutton Jr.
of Columbia, S.C.
Miss Haas received a B.S. degree
in elementary education from the
University of Georgia. She is em
ployed by Savannah Electric and
Power Co.
She is the granddaughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Gustave L. Wolf
of New York, and Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Haas.
Mr. Sutton received an associate
degree in electronics engineering
from Trident Technical School in
Charleston, S.C. He is employed
by Savannah Electric and Power
Co.
He is the grandson of Mr. and
Mrs. Marshall T. Knott of Sharon,
Mass., and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Sutton of Johnstown, N.Y.
A May 18 wedding is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Robinson
of Greensboro, N.C. announce the
engagement of their daughter, Fran
ces Ruth, to Dr. Robert Paul
Gaynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cal
vin C. Gaynes of Flossmoor, Ill.
The bride-elect attended the Uni
versity of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill and received a master’s degree
in community counseling from Geor
gia State University. She is em
ployed by the Georgia Department
of Human Resources as a legisla
tive/public relations assistant.
The bridegroom-elect is the grand
son of Mrs. Joanna Parker and
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gaynes, all
of Chicago, Ill.
He attended the University of
Illinois and received a medical de
gree from the University of Chi
cago Medical School. He is an In
fectious Disease Fellow at the Uni
versity of Chicago.
A June wedding is planned in
Greensboro.
Kaplan-Altman
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Kopel-
man of Atlanta announce the en
gagement of their daughter, Nina
Renee Kaplan, to Michael A. Alt
man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
E. Altman of East Lansing, Mich.
Nina also is the daughter of the late
David Kaplan of Atlanta.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Ben Kaplan of Atlanta
and the late Dorothy Kaplan, and
Irving Wolf of Atlanta and the late
Eva Wolf.
The bridegroom-elect is the grand
son of Mrs. Ethel Altman of Hallan
dale, Fla. and the late Morris Alt
man and Mrs. Nettie Deutch of
Detroit, Mich, and the late Paul
Deutch.
Miss Kaplan graduated magna
cum laude from the Georgia State
University School of Business Ad
ministration with a B.A. degree in
accounting. She is an assistant con
troller at Portman Properties of
Atlanta.
Mr. Altman graduated from
Alma College with a B.A. degree in
business administration and re
ceived his master’s degree in account
ing from Miami University. He is
a CPA at Touche Ross and Co.
An August wedding is planned.
Kipnis-Forester
Gert Forester and Milton Kipnis
were married Thursday, Feb. 14 at
The Temple. Rabbi Alvin Sugar-
man officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Hyman Schnaar of Mon
treal, Canada, and the mother of
Lisa and Karen Forester of Atlanta.
The bridegroom is the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Kipnis
of New York, and the father of
Jeffrey Kipnis, presently of New
York.
Mrs. Kipnis is an occupational
therapist at Northside Hospital.
Mr. Kipnis is vice president of Re
public Land and Investment Co. in
Atlanta.
