NCJW calls for spring Bargainata volunteers
S.O.S., the international distress
signal, also means “support our
sale” to the National Council of
Jewish Women. With the bi-annual
Bargainata sale coming up March
9-11 and 16, NCJW is sending an
S.O.S. for volunteers and contri
butors.
The sale is held at the NCJW
office, 791 Miami Circle, to raise
funds in support of community
programs. Last fall’s sale was the
largest in the history of the pro
gram, and expectations are high for
a repeat success this spring.
Council members can donate
time in the weeks prior to March 9
to mark and tag clothing. During
the sale, volunteers are needed for a

the Choral Guild of Atlanta in
Handel’s oratorio, “Judas Macca-

Epstein School to honor
Rabbi and Mrs. Epstein
The commuinity is invited to a
“Morning of Simcha” at the
Epstein School on Friday, Feb. 21.
The events begin with a 9:30 a.m.
breakfast reception honoring
Rabbi and Mrs. Harry H. Epstein.
At 10:15 a.m., Rabbi Epstein,
rabbi emeritus of Ahavath Achim
Synagogue, will present each first
grader with a Siddur, marking the
point in their education when they
can read the Siddur and chant a
number prayers. Classroom visita
tion will follow.
Enrollment for the 1986-87
school year is in full progress at the
Epstein School and Ahavath Achim
Early Childhood Program. For more

The AJCC Senior Adult Living
History Class will host a presenta
tion of “Number Our Days,” the
1976 Academy Award winner for
best documentary, at 1 p.m. Mon
day, Feb. 17, at the AJCC/
Peachtree.
The film is based on anthropo
logist Barbara Myerhoffs work
with a group of elderly Jews in a.
Venice, Calif., senior center. This
is a story of beauty, strength, joy
and love.

Sisterhood will concoct
cosmetics in the kitchen
B’nai Torah Sisterhood will meet
at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at
the synagogue. Sydell Harris,
owner of Sydell Skin Care and
Cosmetic Salon, will demonstrate
and provide helpful hints on cosme-
tic resources found in the
kitchen.
