Brandeis Women to host event for new members
The Atlanta chapter of the
Brandeis University National
Women’s Committee will host an
evening of magic for new and pros
pective members on Wednesday,
Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of
Donna Goodhart.
The program will feature Dan
Garrett, nationally recognized
“Magician of the Month,” and will
“uncover the magic” of a Brandeis
Women’s Committee membership,
through an entertaining presenta
tion.
The Brandeis Women’s Commit
tee was formed in 1948 to maintain
and support the library of Brandeis
University, the only private, non
sectarian Jewish-sponsored univer
sity.
The Atlanta chapter raises funds
through its annual used-book sale.
The group also organizes study
groups and events for its members.
The membership committee,
chaired by Viki Freeman, includes

OVS to sell tickets
for Israeli Philharmonic
Congregation Or VeShalom has
purchased 100 seats for the per
formance of the Israeli Philhar
monic at the Fox Theatre Wed
nesday, Sept. 3. The orchestra,
conducted by Zubin Mehta, will
feature Claudio Arrau as guest
artist.
Ticket price of $37 includes a
pre-concert theater party with
cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6
p.m. at the synagogue. A bus will
be availalbe for transportation to
the Fox for $2 a person.

The Shirim Chorale of Atlanta
will hold auditions for its fall sea
son at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26
and Sept. 2. The chorale, under the
leadership of Meredith Stephen
son, will perform Jewish choral
works which span 400 years.
The chorale’s first rehearsal will
be Sept. 9, Rehearsal details will be
