Schiff, who will serve the congre
gation on a bimonthly basis. Rabbi

Growing congregation
seeks members, rabbi
Where there s a will, there’s a
way takes on a special meaning
for the leaders of the United Jewish
Congregation of Rockdale-Newton.
The congregation has been meet
ing for some six years despite the
fact that there are not enough fami
lies to support a full-time or part-
time rabbi. Religious chairman Sy
(_ ommanday now seeks more fam
ilies and individuals to join so “we
can grow and someday afford a
rabbi and the accompanying full
time support.”

BBYO leaders to have
VIP leadership training
BBYO will hold VIP (Very Inter
ested People) leadership training
from Friday, Sept. 5 to Sunday,
Sept. 7, at the AJCC Peachtree.
Sixty presidents and vice presi
dents of 27 BBYO chapters from
Georgia and South Carolina will
participate in a weekend of learn
ing, experiencing and sharing with
their counterparts in other BBYO
chapters.
The young leaders will discuss
planning a community service or
Judaic program, how to run a
meeting, delegating responsibility,
and Federations and B’nai B’rith.
New Sisterhood formed
at Kehillat Chaim
Members of Congregation Kehil
lat Chaim have recently formed a
sisterhood. Those elected to serve
on its first board are Rosalyn Bush,
president; Sheryl Blechner, Norma
Gallow, Cathy Meltzerand Bonnie
Sobelson, vice presidents; Barbara
Ross, corresponding secretary;
Dorene Smith, financial secretary;
Joyce Natbony, recording secre

The sisterhood is planning a
membership meeting Sept. 16, and
a major fund-raiser in December.
