Muscogee County Hat.—We saw a
load of hay yesterday from the planta
tion of Captain J. A. Cobb, in this coun
ty. which, according to our notion, was
superior to any Northern h.,y we ever
saw in our market. It was sold to Capt.
S. II. Hill at $1 .50 per hundred,or about
$7.00 per bale. Captain Cobb inform*
ns that there is a sufficiency of grass in
his immediate vicinity to make a thous
and bales of hay, . Ay^ieli, at the above
price, would foot up the snug little sum
ot $7,000. He says the main difficulty
in the way of cutting and curing is the
scarcity of labor.

The Athens and Eatonton Boad.
Great interest is felt in Athens,
Madison, Eatonton, and all along the
line, in the construction of this import
ant road. A new charter is before the
Legislature, and will probably be en
acted before the session closes. A
preliminary su. vey was concluded last
week by a corps from Madison, who
found the line practicable by two or
three different routes. It is probable
that a meeting will be called by the
corporators at an early day at Madi
son, when it is hoped such a demon
stration will be made as to enlist the
co-operation of the leading cities and
railroads who will be greatly benefited
by the completion of this line.

Letter from Dr. Mell.—We
extract the following letter from the
Christian Indpc, from , Rev. Dr. P.
H. Mell, to his uncle in Atlanta:
Glascow Scotland, Aug. 3, 1872.
a ^{Yj Dear Unclb—We arrived
this morning after a passage of seven
teen days. We had no storm. The
sea wasjsmooth all the way excepting
on the binks of Newfoundland, and it
was not very rough there. I was sea-
siclf for only two minutes one morn
ing on the hanks. The sickness
came upon me suddenly and unex
pectedly. I paid Neptune’s claim
promptly, without cavilling, and he
gave me a receipt full for the rest of
the voyage. Lizzie was quite sick.—
I liore the passage well as any one,
slept soundly every night, nnd, in the
main, was free from nervous discom
fort. I feel very well to day, but am
by no means cured. I hope for the
best, however. Remember us affec
tionately to ail, and believe me to be,
Yours, affectionately,
P. H. Mf.ll.

nor was ever any be

this mild bnt efficient

obvious reason is,
that it Is a more relia

not, know that it cures their neighbors and Mends;
and all know that what it does once it does al
