The Straight-Out Couvcutiou.
The Convention of “ Jeffersonian
Democrats,” who cannot support Gree
ley or Grant, met in Atlanta on Tues
day. Twenty-three counties were
represented. Judge P. Reynolds, of
Newton was made President, and H.
K. Shackelford and Burgess Smith,
Secretaries. ••'.-/ -
Judge Reynolds, on taking tlie chair,
addressed the convention at some
length, recounting the objections to
Greeley, and the importance of pre
serving the organization.
A committee of fifteen, consisting of
Messrs. J. F. Reid of Taliaferro, Gen.
T. L. Guerry of Quitman, W. H.

Cobb, Dr. H. J. Bates of Newton,
Henry Persons of Talbot, J. H. Fur-
marl of Baldwin, E. P. Ewards of
Elbert, J. T. Hall of Spalding, Jack

Harris, Dr. J. F. Alexander of Ful

not only of the Sputh, but of the. Dem
