excellent contrivance clearly demonstrates
its foperiority over all other rnufquets, by
rendering i t doubly ufcful; so that a body of
500 men may da nearly as milch eieention ns

the ramrods, which frequently arc loft in the
confnfion ofbattle, and to prevent the right
arm from being so exposed to the enemy’s
fire, by (he continual motion of drawing and
returning ramrods; it carries as far as other

recovered.
“ In diseases of a lower order, 1 have fre
quently given Gum Arabic as far as fix oun
ces a day, and l am persuaded that this dose
may, on occasions, be doubled or qnadru*.

vpry much inclined to hdlieve, this Gum
might very ufefully bo given in the black
vomit, acidulated with vitriolic acid, which
is a form I frequently adopt in spitting of
blood, and in hsemorrages from the intestinal
canal.
