Gentlemen—During the lute Creek campaign, I was
attacked violently with Bilious Intermittent Fever,
which for several days confined me to iny quarters at
Tallassee. Your “ .Southern Tonic** whs recommended
to me, and my friend Dr. Bussey, actually rode to Mont

w hich entirely relieved me, and enabled me, before I had
taken half die quantity, to proceed ou and join the army
on the Hatchachubha. Since mv return home, my son
was attpcked,and I sent into the city for your Tonic, and
regretted to learn there was none for sale in Mobile.—

HAVING Stood tho test oOipcricnce, arc recommen
ded to the public as decldeiiN superior to any com
bination of Medicine ever offered to the. American Fco
nle. Tho proprietor of these Pills being a regular bred
Physician, ana having practised his profession exten
sively for many years in different cliniules, is enabled t®
•ffer to the atHicted invalid s medicine, on the effects of
which he is willing to risk hia repntntion.
He does not pretend that they are a positive cure, or
ev.n beneficial in every complaint, but lie most firmlv
believes that in all disenscs where a cathartic or aperi
ent nsedicin® is needed, they will be found far superior to
any of those drastic purgative medicines which are so
much puffed in the public prints as purifiers of the blood.
When taken sccd.'aiujr to the directions accompanying
them, tbev are highly beneficial in the prevention and
cure of bilious fevers, fever and ague, dyspepsia, liver
complsints, sick headache, jaundice, asthma, dropsy,
rheumatism, heart burn, nausea, furred tongue, disten
sion of the stomach and bowels, incipient diarrhoea, flotu
lenee, habitual constiveness, loss ol appetite, blotched or
sallow complexion, and in all cases ol topor of the bow
•ls, where a cathartic or nn aperient is needed. They
are exceedingly mild in their operation, producing nei
ther naunea, griping, nor debility.
T\ lierex er ttiene Pills have been once intorducod into a
family, they become a standing remedy, nnd aro called
f.r .gain nnd again, which is sufficient proof of their
good qualities.
Parhaps no article of ths kind has aver been offered to
the public, supported hv testimonials of • chsraster so
derisive, from sources as respectable, or that has given
more universal satisfaction.
They have the testimony of the whols modicsl profes
sion in their favor,while not a single ease of ill conse
quences or inefficiency can be alleged against them.
Hundreds and thousands bless ths day they became
acqusinted with Peter's Vegetable Pills, which, in ronse
qucnCe of their •xlrsoMlffary goodness, have attained a
popularity, unprecedented in the history of medicine.
The very circumstances alone, that physicians, in eve
ry part of the L’nion, (but more especially in the Month
ern States, w here they have long been in use,) are making
free use of them its their practice,spesks volumes in their
praise. Add to thisthe fact, that all who use invariably
recommend th.in to their friends, and (be testimony in
their favor is almost irresistahle. Assn ami-bilious rem

DEATH AND DISEASE.
Mcne tana.in carpert ims.
“A rnhid well lodged, and masculine of course.”
Death met Disease the other day,
And thus they gossipp’d on thewny*.
Death —How comes it friend, in every chape,
You let so many folks escape ?
A few years bgrk, nnd everv elf,
Once sick, you laid upon the shelf.
Pytpepttn then|hsd power to kill——
Atthma defied the doctor's skill
The lancet (on, at all times sought,
Its heeatouib of victims bought;
Then Catlireaett could fatal prove,
And Hhcumatuai do power remove }
A simple cold, where'er you went,
A subject to my kingdom sent.
How comes it, th®u, that now-a-dsye,
Folks slip yoqr gripe and go their wav T
Aethmn subsides —tlyeprntln eared—
The lancet! is no more endured;
The sick ti-dsv forget all sorrow,
And laugh at both efus to-morrow.
Disease—Dread sire ! I use all means I can,
To abbrev itc the life of man :
I doe his footsteps from his birth,
‘Till he returns to mother earth, l
Aral though ‘tin true that my success
Is daily gtowing less and less,
This satisfaction I can feel,
I have not slackened in mv r-eol;
1 use nil moans I used of old—
Changes of weather—hot and cold ;
I give ihm colds; 1 give them pains;
I rack their bones: I fire their veins ;
I poison them with rnneid bile,
In place of the digestive chvle,
Yet all i useless—nothing Villa.
Death —How’s that?
Pitt ’te —They nil take Peteh!.’ Pm s.

Oallighan’s Pills, though useful for all diseases which
originate in a superabundant collection ol bile in the

duce a natural and permanent appetite. They defend
the system agsinst new or subsequent attacks of the dis
ease. They remove all obstructions of the liver and
other organs. They assist the various operations of na
turn, by elennsing the system of all vitiated, corrupt nnd
acrid humors, ai.d thus invigorate and reanimate the
whole fraina. Possessing a purgative quality, they can
not remain in the bowels to produce such otlur diseases
