ZSu the introduction of slaves in thi* State.
He it enacted hy 0,c Senate and House of Repreoeula-
tires of the State of Georgia, in General Assembly met,
ami tt ts hereby enacted by the authority of the same,
I hat from and after the passage of fins net, so much of
the existing law concerning the introduction of slaves
into this State, as inhibits emigrants,nr persons profess-
ing n determination to settle in this State, the privilege
ot hiring or lending out his slaves within the period of
mm year after the removal of slnves, to this State, be and
tin* same is hereby repealed, nnd that such actual or ex
pected settler be exempt from all restrictions and penal
ties heretofore imposed upon the act or offer of hiring or
lending such slaves within the time specified : Provided
nevertheless, It shall he the duty of such newcomer or
pcr*ou intending n residence in’this State, to apply to
some one duly authorised to administer an oatn, and
make affidavit that they have not introduced such slave
or slaves with a view to speculation, but with the intent
solely of bring held to service hy themselves personally,
or llinr Irgsl heirs nml representatives.
SEC. 5, And he it further enacted by the authority
aforesaid. That all Inws militating against this act, be,
and the same are licrcbv repealed.
