MIDWAY FEMALE SEltllNAHY.
T HE exercises of this Institution will be resumed on the
first Monday of January next. .
The following recommendation as to the merits of tins
School is given by Pres. Tai.maoe, >yho, from the proxtinitv
of his residence, has had a full inspection and a perfect knowl -
edge of its nirungements and qualifications:
“I tukegreat pleasure in rcco nmeiiding to purine attention
and confidence tho Midway Female Seminary under tho care
of Mr. William Clurk. And I dccin it not only an act of jus
tice to Mr. Clurk, hut of duty to parents, to say that I know
of no position beyond theparontul roof in which I would more
confidently intrust a daughter’s education, than with Mr. and
Mrs. Clark. The course of study appears to lie sound and
solid, and the ornamental branches of Music, Drawing and
Painting, and Embroidery, receive a proper attention. J lie
modem languages, French, Spanish and Italian, ure well
taught by competent teacheis. ..... . ,
'The rules and regulations of the School, I think eminently
judicious. They ore strict, but kindly administered by a mild
and conscientious Christian gentleman. Mr. Clark posseses
the happy faculty of acquiring easily the confidence and af
fection of his pupils. Those residing in his family areal al I
times under the best core and protection.
The principal charm of the school is, to my mind, its moral
and religious tone, a vital element in youthful training too
often neglected.
Whilst it is gratifying to witness the increasing attention to
Female Education in Georgia, and the number of good schools
rising in different sections of the State, I consider it no dispar
agement to other good schools to say that Mr. Clark’s will
bear a favorable comparison with any female school 1 know
for its intellectual advantages and its moral influences.
'The reasonableness of his terms is also a recommendation
in these limes of pecuniary pressure,
