A vulgar piece appeared in the Macon Telegraph of t he 21st
of May last, signed Z, (to which, my absence from the State, pre
cluded a notice of it, until now,) the author of which, as is general-
ly believed, is that mean and despicable wretch, jitcIJYTYRE r
who is associated as co-editor with Mr. Bartlett, and who has so
long been known to the public for his vulgar and billingsgate com
munications, and the freedom with which he abuses and defames
others. McIntyre being destitute of the character of a gentleman,
having forfeited all pretensions to decency, I have sought my re
dress from Mr. Bartlett, (as a portion of the public estimate him
as a gentleman) and have held him only responsible to me for the
acts of his tool, who is, assassin-like, kept behind the curtain, for
the purpose of dark and malign practices. With an expression of
my utter contempt for McIntyre, and his master, Bartlett, I send
them forth to the public in that enviable state which their charac
ters place them. The following correspondence furnishes addi
tional evidence, if any were necessary, in establishing the fact, that
Dr. Bartlett, Editor of the Macon Telegraph, is a Coward and
Scoundrel. *
