This remedy expels worms by giving healthy

There is nothing in its composition to kill worms.
They nro seldom seen after its use, and the p

Those remedies which kill worms must ot coarse

RownniiPs Tonic mixture.
M R. EDITOR—Much n* tho power* of this
favorite remedy have been extolled, I cau-
not omit this opportunity ofdeclnriug my decided
conviction thnt every account of the sanative vir
tues of tlie Mixture will he verified to the full ex
tent. Whatever be die character o ‘the complaint
—^whether unequul tertian—double or simple
quartan—however vnried be its type, attended
with syncope, apoplexy, vehenicntispasm*. with
coldness and stupor—whatever it* duration, whe
ther vernal or autumnal, laying.the foundation for
visceral affections, and other slow but unerringly
fatal maladies—however irregular in tneir inva
sion, and uncommon in their appearances—in
fine, whatever be the age. idiosyncrasy, or Imb fs
ofthe patient,,tlie complnint alike bids ndiou on
the due administration of the Tonic Mixture.—
This is no high-wrought panegyric for the exper
iment. I speak only from what I positively know
—however successful other preparation* may
have been, there can he little reliance placed upon
them when compared with this article. By strict
ly following the directions that accompany the
bottle, we find it acts upon the most scientific
principle—for, it seems to anticipate the return
of tiio f old fit. und excites a strong reaction, and
powerful glow over the whole system; nnd thus
to pre-occupy the ground, and by disturbin'? the
regularity ofthe type, to subdue tho intermittent
altogether. Under such a course of medicino, I
have been ustonished to notice with what haste
the disease bents alarm lor a retreat, nnd the pros
trated strength of the system rallies. It is a pow
erful, yet mild medicine—substituting calmness,
tranquillity,and balmy sleep,in place of pain,wea
riness. anti restless nights—a renovation of long-
lost strength nnd robust health, in lieu of feeble
ness nnd emaCiution. And I confidently believe,
and I predu nte my opinion upon the most sub
stantial proof, that under whatever sky—in what
ever corner of the earth—whether upon hill or
valley, w'herever fever and ague makes its appear
ance, there also will “Rowand’s Tonic Mixture”
find its way—the happy desideratum, the .perfect
antidote. N. LEE, W. D.
KTOne ofthe best recommendations that can
ho given this medicine is the following:—Physi
cian* living in Fever and Ague districts, who have
become acquainted with its efficacy, are in the
habit of ordering it to be used in their o wn prac
tice.
From the Harrisburg Intelligencer of Juno. 1833.
Mr. VVyetli—Having long been afilicted in my
fiimily with Fever nnd Ague, and having tried ev
ery means to get rid of it without avail, 1 at length
met with your advertisement of Rowand’s genu
ine Tonic Mixture, which I determined to try.
After using it, my wife was entirely restored to
iienlth. having snfTercd for fifteen months from the
debilitating effects of Fever and Ague, and is now
ns hearty and stout as she ever-was.

this UMthcme bus achieved throughout the United

scientiously recommending them to tlie special at
tention of afflicted.
Dr. Paters Ims spent much time in experiment
ing with different Vegetable Medicines tor diseas
es of tlie liver, and now oilers his Vegetable Pill*
as the best, most convenient aud cheapest‘Medi
cine that can he prepared for general use.
One greut quality of his Vegetable Pilh is that
they have tho alternative principle combined with
their curtliartic, or operative quulities, or that they
not only cleunse-the stomach and bowels hy pur
ging, hut tliey regulate tlie liver, change tlie mor
bid secretion, strengthen the digestive organs, pu
rify the blood, invigorate the circulation, und give*
tone nnd energy'to the liervoys system.
They are mild and pleasant in their operation /
and convey almost immediate conviction of their
utility from their first dose a They can be taken
with safety by persous of any age; and the feeble,
tlie infirm, the nervous und delicate are strength-
enedby their operation, because they clear the
system of bad humors, quiet nervous irritability,
and invariably produce sound health.
The Vegetable Pills ure a sure remedy for jaun
dice, sick and nervous headache, dyspensv, cos-
tiveuess, sickness of the stomach, heartburn, all
bilious complaints, fevers of all kinds, and if taken
at tho commencement will invariably check their
progress, and save tlie patient from n protracted
and dangerous sickness. They are invaluable in
nervous und hypocondricul utfections, loss of ap
petite, aud all complaints to wiiich females alone
are subject. They operate as a mild spbedy purge,
and are a safe und certain remedy lor worms in
children.
Extract of a letter from Dr. Gumoy, of New-
Orleans, La.Oct. 9,1837.—“Ihave received much
assistance in my practice; especially in jaundice
and yellow fuver; from the use of Peters’ Pills, I
presume that, ou un uveruge, I prescribe 100 box
es per month.”
Extract of a letter from Dr. Pritchard, of Hud
son, New-York, June 3,18:46.—“I wasuware that
Dr. Peters was one of the best chemists in the U.
States, nnd felt assured that lie would some day
(from his intimutc knowledge of the properties of
herbs and drugs) produce an efficient medicine,
and I must acknowledge that his Vegetable Pill*
fully respond to my expectation. Thev are, in
deed, a superior .medicine and reflect alike upon
the chemist, the physician, and the phylosopher.”
Extract of a lerter from Dr. Waine*, of Cin
cinnati, Feb.2,1838.—“Your Pills are the mildest
in their operations, and yet most powerful in their
effects, of any I have ever met with in iny prac
tice of eight und twenty years. 1 Their action on
tliu chyle, and hence on the impurities of the blood
is evidently very surprising.’^
