Juntos, von THF. Lost Time.—I read in the
American,nfowdiiyssince, the following article,
extracted from an English paper;t .
..a grandson of the late Str Philip Francis, Olid
his widow, Lady Francis, are each of then) said
to he preparing a life of that accomplished suites*
man, in which the idenity of the author of Junius’
latter*will unquestionably be established; the
box or trunk, ao frequently alluded to in the in*
veitigation of this subject, and which was always
reported (0 contain undoubted testimony of this
•author's name, has,we are told, been discovered
by tha grandson of Sir Philip Francis.”
It is singular that tho box or pnreal, containing
tho secret of thoHaiilhorship of Junius, which was
found, over twelve years ago, should now be re
discovered by the grandson of Sir Philip Francis,
The simple history of the discovery is, that in
October, 1827, as Lord Nugent and tho Duke of
Buckingham, the Grandson of Mr. George Gren*
villa, were examining tho library of the latter,
which had descended to the Duke, they lit upon a
parcel, studiously concealod in a, to them un
known recess. The narcql contained three letters;
one from Junius under his fictitious signature,an
other signed with his real name, and a third with
theauthor’s initials—all in the same hand writing.
This parcel was immediately shown to Lord
Grenville, the brother of G. Grenville, who at
once recognised it, and declared his intention of
providing for the publicity oftho document oiler
nis death, bnt not till thon. At his request, the
Duke and Lord Nugent have pledged themselves
to silence, till that event shall have taken place.
It has been since mentioned in English papers,
that these documents are deposited in a cose,
sealed up, in the possession ot the Duke of Buck
ingham.
Lord Grenville has been dead some two or three
years, audit is believed that Mr. Woodfall, tho
publisher of Junius’ lowers, under on impression
that the saio of the work would be diminished,
were the author known, has prevailed with the a-
foresaid gentlemen to withhold their information
lill his copy right should expire, which took place
in the 15th of lastmonth. It is, therefore, high
ly probable, that the long sought for secret will
loon be divulged. But Mr. Francis and hi* grand-
aother will be most wofiilly disappointed, if they
ixpectto find the name of Philip Francis append-
id to the above mentioned letter. John Horne
"'ooke was the author of Junius' letters.—N. Y.

Ion. 45.
On the 10th Juno, we picked up the spars of a
ship that had been burnt. There wore two top
mast*, two topsail yards and anils, two topgallant
manta, main and cross jock yards, both with pat
ent trusses and chain sheets, with bands on oil
the yards for the brace blocks, tvnd other rigging
attached thereto. The ship that those spars be
longed to must havo been 800 tons, for her fore-
topmast measured 18 inches through the cap.
They had not been in the water more than two
or three weeks at tho most, for th6 tar was just
as fro*h as the day it was put on. Her hull must
have burnt up altogether, for her main yard was
badly burnt. We got lots of good new standing
rigging, a new topsail yard, bigger and longer
than our main yard.
Tho above no doubt wo* tho ship Poland, and
is the first account that has been received of her.
